Who will win the series?

There’s no heat between these teams, no fire, even after three playoff meetings. I wouldn’t mind the Kings as an actual rival—the teams had a hot rivalry 1988-1992—but other than that these franchises have always been lukewarm toward each other. It’s just…meh.

Sorry for my ignorance as I've never had a donair, but is it exclusively beef with sauce and fixins in pita bread?

Why aren't we comparing it to a gyro then?

And sorry, there are fewer things in life superior to a well-made burrito.

Problem is that I think the Oilers have a handful of key pieces who have pretty clearly been held together by dreams and duct tape this season. The sorts of things that sitting out a couple weeks to end the season isn't going to fix. Even if the Oilers get past LA my fear is still seeing guys like Hyman or McDavid looking like Kane did as the playoffs progressed last year.

I agree with you. If the guys coming back they get to Kane levels of injury and can barely be effective then yes that’s a big problem. But if it is more like a Drai 2022 situation where they can still run the show albeit injured then things look better. Nobody will really know, teams don’t say much about injuries this time of the year.

If you believe Wikipedia, it's called a "variation" of a doner kebab that uses exclusively beef as the meat, and usually includes onion, tomato, and a sweet sauce that's made out of sweetened condensed milk, sugar, vinegar, and garlic powder. Then the whole thing is wrapped in a soft white pita.

I'm imagining the sauce is what makes it a unique dish with its own name. Gyros (nominally Greek in origin, whereas doner kebab is nominally Turkish in origin) normally contain tzatziki as the sauce, but are otherwise comparable. Lots of variants originating in that region of the world, I guess.

Powerplay goals in the series last year were like 10 or 11 to 1 in favour of the Oilers. If the Kings can close that gap (big BIG "if" ) , they'll win. They were better 5v5 last year and in each of the previous two series as well.

Would love for the series to end with Corey Perry staring off into space in the penalty box. For old times sake.
5on5 goals by game for last 3 playoff match-up

2022

1-4
3-1
2-0

2023

0-1
3-3
4-3
4-1

2024

In the 3 years there have only been 6 playoff games where kings outscored oilers 5on5. Oilers have outscored kings at 5on5 in 9 of the playoffs games

People from Halifax are such Donair Snobs. On HF *and* in real life😆, like “Lettuce ruins it, peasant”🧐. And I never put onions on mine.

I recognize that Halifax is the OG Donair Town but Edmonton changed it up a bit and we embraced it as our own. Like how Nashville embraced the Predators lol. Sure, it’s not our food, but we still love it as much you do😜.

Ekholm is a massive loss.

For most of the year I had the Edmonton going all the way.

Now with all the injury woes and illness, I have LA winning this 1st round matchup!
