My two favorite forwards of all the time, I think that will be a close poll. Who you rather have based on their career?
In a 2012 poll of 257 NHL players, Datsyuk was voted #1 in hardest to get off the puck. He also won smartest player, most difficult to play against, cleanest to play against, and toughest forward to play against along with being named toughest to stop by the goalies. His largest margin of victory was the hardest to get off the puck category, where he received 47% of the vote to Malkins 10%. Datsyuk is a rare case of a flashy player generally being rated higher by his peers than by fans.Forsberg was better.
Datsyuk did better in Selke voting (not sure he was actually that much better defensively) and better at nifty dangles and stealing pucks. Forsberg was a better passer and playmaker, harder to knock off the puck (though Datsyuk was strong on the puck himself), more physical and significantly better in the playoffs.

This is like comparing Mcdavid and Barzal
Not comparable hockey players
Forsberg by a lot

Forsberg takes it. For datsyuk, outside his 4-5 peak seasons right after the lockout there’s not a lot of meat on his career, and he only showed up for about half of his playoff appearances over his career.
