Poile definitely made moves during his tenure that were head scratchers but it was always pretty easy to discern what he was trying for or what the long term plan was (and he would generally be open with his thought process in the wake of moves). The amount of confusing, stupid, and contradictory moves out of this org in a year and a half that require our media to make stupid justifications for make it hard for me to believe Poile has any real involvement now.

I am glad he’ll get his shot, but I hate that Trotz not only deals a young player, but deals him within the division. Would of liked to see him get his chance in the East

Hey fellas, hope you might answer a few questions.

- Is Parssinen able to play at 3C right now?
- Is he pass-first or shoot-first?
- How is his defensive game?
- Would you consider him a good skater?

Thanks kindly
In my opinion, yes he can play 3C right now. He’s a big body that skates well and uses his size to protect the puck. He’s has some decent shooting skills and has pulled off some highlight goals in his limited ice time in Nashville. He’s plays the boards well and is a decent passer. Basically he’s a well rounded 2 way center that the current coach of the Predators had no idea how to deploy.

I'd add to that meaning he skates well but is not necessarily fast. He's more of a power skater, he's uses them to hold on to the puck but he is never going to look like he was shot out of a rocket.

All of which doesn't mean a thing when you have our record.
And that’s what I said. I also said Smith and Sissons aren’t exceptional pk’ers and he came back with stupid analytics stuff.

He said Smith creates chances and I’m like, he doesn’t finish so it doesn’t mean anything.

Right. He says the same BS that Mase and Willy do, but all of this " had a chance " stuff doesn't mean a thing if you never do anything with it. The reason he is a 4th liner is the fact they never nor will do anything with it.

We don’t know because he has been in the press box for the whole season. He prefers honey mustard with his chicken fingers. Big pigs in a blanket guy, too.

Daugherty is a dolt at best. I have him blocked on twitter so I don’t ever have to read his drivel.
I don't subscribe to any of our media, they are less knowledgeable than the people here. If I want to listen to someone tow the company line I can just watch and listen to Mason and Willie.

What people want from our media is to question that line, just like many of us do here. None of those guys have what it takes to ask those questions because their entire level of access comes from towing the company line.

Every single one of them is worthless because they view everything through glasses painted with a giant Preds logo on them. The Preds as a franchise have made sure that no one gets any real roots into the underbelly without their consent and until someone manages that we are never going to get real media coverage of this team.

Like hido said, you can expect a bit of rust. Our coach said he mismanaged his development and followed that up by locking him in the pressbox all season. It's ridiculous, but there it is.

He's strong on his skates, but not a nifty figure skater guy. He is a young, natural C. He can shoot and he can play in the corners and he can pass. He's done all of that in the NHL, but most of it was the previous coach.

- I think so.
- Definitely pass-first. If there was any complaint I had with Pärssinen it was his shot. It was a muffin and he got it off slow. He's going to score some goals but they're mostly going to be deflection an rebound goals.
- Solid. He's tenacious and good on puck battles. Never takes the defensive side of the game for granted.
- I think his skating was the biggest issue why Trotz and co. didn't see him as a good "fit" for Bruno's up-tempo system. His skating is very choppy for a guy his size rather than a longer stride. I think his skating is what ultimately limits him from being a true threat offensively and be a top-six player.

Would feel better to know what the plan is period. People are just pure reacting right now. The reactions that a typical fan could do better than any GM is just plain disingenuous. Now we can sure disagree with decisions but when we have no indication the direction Trotz has in his crystal ball all the speculation in the world is senseless.

A week or so ago I asked who the core was going to be in 5 years. All the current roster will be aged out at that point as impactful core players. No one here are even considering that . All these young guys that have been moved out have been complementary players bottom. 6 guys focusing on these type players is like trying to put out a Forrest fire with a bucket. Now for me to beat up on Trotz some his moving Askarov was inexcusable. Granted he thought adding the veterans to this roster could extend the teams competitiveness. I really though pre season that he made strides to that but was still short the 2C to center Stammer and March is was as close to two hood scoring lines as this team had on paper in a long time. Askarov could have been a player to start building a core around.

First thing we need to know is what Trotz plan is long term. If it is the Poile stay the course at this point there will be a decade of suck coming. Look at what that did to the Hawks who sucked for 20 years until they finally found a couple golden eggs drafting to 10 for years. They had their run and back to sucking again. Trotz has not let much out of the bag what he is planning but actions are more impactful. What I take from it is he is now piling up futures to build a core for 2030. That has to be the current push he has moved out the complementary players .

The gorilla I. The room remains who are the core? Askarov would have been if he turned out. But potential 40 point guys are not the focus now. How many years was it just dreaming about a 70 point player here? Now Trotz has to identify mutiple potential 70 point guys.

Scoring in the league continues to rise the initial years we experienced winning games by a single goal with total goals less than 5 are gone. Total team goals expectations is
Approaching 300 team goals a year. There are teams pushing the 330 goal mark per year. 4 goals a game will be common before long. Years ago we thought an average of 3.5 goals was mind blowing. So the new core Trotz has to have high expectations. The game has sure changed in 25 years.

So again who is going to be the core?

Good questions. What style hockey do the Preds want to play? That’s a big deal in selecting your coach and players.

Apparently with the coaching situation, the style of hockey they want to play is so far above the NHL level of hockey IQ that they’re going to have to create a superior league to the NHL to implement it correctly or start drafting people with master’s degrees in engineering and hope they can skate.

Doubt he would have cleared waivers early in the season. If someone was willing to trade for him then odds are someone would have been willing to take him for free.
It may not have worked, but the one time when it might have worked was that final roster cutdown. Teams tend to have firmed up their plan for the opening day roster and want to get their own guys cleared through waivers to stock the AHL affiliate.

Trying to pull a Fabbro waiver off, when all 32 teams have the data on what they do and don't have, is the roster move that has no chance of success.

At this point, Trotz is almost repeating that mistake with the minor change that he trades the guy for bellybutton lint instead of waiving him outright.

Main reason I say that is his stock would have probably been higher than it is today after sitting all of those games. Thing is it only takes one GM taking a stab for it to happen and I'm willing to bet that there was at least one out there that didn't feel that great about what they had that would have taken a stab, especially considering how cheap his contract was. It would be different if he had a 1.5 mil contract.

Ask yourself why other NHL teams are more interested in Nashville's young players than Nashville?

Are they better at recognizing hockey IQ or talent than the Preds organization? If so, why?

Parsnip's stats: 25 pts in 45 games (0.56 PPG), 12 in 44 games (0.27 PPG), 5 in 15 games (0.33 PPG).
His respective plus/minus were -1, -6 and -8.

The trend was the more he played in Nashville, the WORSE his stats became.

That tells me that the coaching was making him a worse player instead of a better one.

Brunette needs to go! We were better off with Hynes. I can't believe that I wrote that!

Considering the Avs gave us a 3rd for him, they wouldve definitely put a waiver claim on him.
Not saying you're not spot on with this, but wtf does that say about our talent evaluation? I mean we need centers, Trotz talks about getting centers, and yet we can't figure out how to get a young natural center in the lineup and just dump him after minimizing his value. Paint it turquoise and call it a marble. That's just plain nuts.
