Ownership situation

Drance seems to anchor what's been happening in real estate in general, with how laser focused the Aquilini family is on playoff revenue. The prompt was the Kypreos rumour about the family thinking about selling.

The franchise valuation has ballooned to $2B from $250m. It makes sense that the family would want to cash out. Especially with the backdrop of the family being "tired" of fan backlash.

I doubt fan response bothers them. Frank turns 65 this year. Is there an heir apparent for him within 5 years? If not, makes sense to begin looking to move off the team.
The grandkids may prefer to remain out of the spotlight of the Canucks.

I like necro'd threads because I see how many posters I've completely forgotten about yet remember in detail. The storage capacity of the mind is functionally limited only by our attention span.

With the next expansion fee apparently to be 2 billion the Canucks, with rink, got be at least 2.5. That’s a tidy 2 billion profit for the family. The big question though: is there a local ownership group with that kind of money? Could be another Van Grizzlies thing.

That is one way to do it, sell it to some rich guy in Houston who moves the team there.

Completely tarnish their family's tiny bit of reputation that their lawyers and PR worked so hard to maintain .

Would be fitting, 94 riot, 2011 riot, 2028 riot when the team moves. Every 17 years.

We'd have an expansion team before long, without Aquilini involvement. Sounds good.
