It's a pretty thin list. Some of the players who might be fits are on teams that already are down to three or less imports and may not be inclined to trade. Zebeski and Mania would make sense but neither Brampton or Flint are likely to want to trade them.

I also don't think they got those 4 picks to put in their pocket for a later day, not how they have been operating.

That was something I'm personally curious about. Maybe not a long term thing but in the immediate it probably makes sense. A lot of the better OA candidates went to the NCAA so the pool of available OAs is a little weak around the league as a whole. With the allowance of three imports you'd have to think its way more palatable to double up an import slot and OA slot on the same player this year compared to past seasons. It's a bit tricky though as generally OA age imports often have pro options in their home country that would come into play.

Gabe Smith is firmly in the mix for me too. He skates really well for a guy his size, competes hard and pretty solid in the Dzone. I think his first pass is generally pretty solid too on a zone exit. Might be biased as a former goalie but I love that type of player.
