100% agree. Which is why I stated (and also what I heard) that there is 0 indication as to him leaving for next season, just that those two programs in particular have a keen interest in the player joining at some point in the future. I would assume he doesn’t make any concrete decision until he gets drafted by an NHL team this time next year. Those two schools were interested in him throughout u16 AAA as well from what I know. Funny enough, (because I checked for myself just now) if you go look at Pierce’s Instagram, both the Penn State and BC men’s hockey team profiles are amongst those who he follows. I couldn’t remember my log in information but I was the first person (to my knowledge) that mentioned Mason Roy committing to the team on here and on Twitter last season + the addition of Lenny Greenberg. I promise I’m not spreading misinformation! I just hear these things from people who are a lot smarter / more well informed than myself and share what I can! These are rumours of course, I am most certainly NOT an ‘insider’. Just a die hard fan with some friends who work in and around the league.I think there's a couple counter points to that. One being that he'd need to graduate high school which most won't accomplish until the conclusion of their 17 year old season. Secondly, he lacks physical maturity that would likely be required to play in a bigger/older league against men in the NCAA.
I get those NCAA programs will chase talents, and Mbuyi certainly is one of those that teams will chase, but I think he's going to have to really work on adding weight before he's ready for that step up.
I suspect Owen Sound's competitive window factors into those plans as well. They should be ready to contend in the 26/27 season which I would think players will want to be a part of.
