Owen Sound Attack 2024-25 Season Thread, Part II

So to be clear.
Anyone who has a different opinion than you or sees room for improvement, should ask for their money back?
Well, to be fair, I was simply agreeing with millponds suggestion, but it was funny.

I think there are lots of people who are excited about the rebuild and what it means, and where the team is at, and there are those of us who want a rebuild but seem to struggle with the results of that, hence ‘they don’t know what a rebuild is’. Rebuilds are what you’re seeing right now, kids against men and mistakes that result.
I’ve never seen a tear down result in a first round win in a 16 vs 1 scenario, but that seems to be the expectation, oddly.

The poster in question seemed to join us after the Oshawa / Barlow trade so perhaps a/he is new and don’t know what the status of the team is or there are other motives, who knows.

Short answer, because the Hunters are perfectly content raking in the money as big fish in a small pond, and those types are rare.
You hit the nail on the head .... the benifits that come from having the brothers running the team year after year are almost insurmountable for most OHL teams. Of course it's all earned by them (they don't cheat like many want to say) but it's huge. Personally between owning the team and filling in these positions it would be interesting to know what the partners make off a sold out 9000 seat arena. Annual deep play off runs just add to it. Wouldn't doubt an NHL gig would mean a pay cut for them both?

I wouldn't be to hard on the Owen Sound coaches or players. Remember this Knights core has been to the OHL final 2 years ago, and the Memorial Cup final last season. Cowan, Barkey, Dickinson, Bonk have all played significant roles in those 3 seasons. This year's team for whatever reason had pretty much all possible returnees come back. Haltunen started in the AHL but was soon returned. Extra good fortune .... Your young enjoy and soak in the experience your a young team who traded away assets to hopefully defer great success down the road.

Graduate the most players but the fewest GMs and head coaches. They're playing a different game... and winning.

My god.. it’s like they are scared.. once London mades it 1-0 they give up. Hookey can’t take that stupid penalty when we were gunna have a 5 on 3. The vets need to be better. This is tough to watch man. Get George out, save his confidence if he has any left for Tuesday.

My suggestions. Not complaints.
-Play the trap hard
-No standing still at any time
-Be patient.
-Wait for London to make a mistake (there won't be many)**
-Capitalize on those mistakes
-Don't retaliate on anything***
We can learn how to win a playoff series from these games. (next year)

Ugh that Mbuyi penalty was weak as hell. Come on refs let the boys play.. one goal game and you call that shit. After he took two solid cross checks. Well the boys battled I’ll give them that. Just can’t getting down 3-4 nothing after the first period

The Knights really don't need the help but they always seem to get it.
I mean we had 8 powerplays to there 4 or 5 but that call was weak in a one goal game with 6 min left in the game, you knew we were getting the next one with all the knights penalties in a row. Good game. Come home with some confidence after that game which is big I guess.

Was great to see the boys show up and remind the knights there are two teams in the series. That first was rough but i think the collective realization that their usual gameplan is why they've been successful was a big reason for the turnaround.

Hopefully we've seen the last of the cynical trapping style - stick to your identity, they got here playing positive, uptempo hockey where they all fought for each other.

Two more chances to advance further than the last two Attack teams!

Long time Hockey Fan 30+ years Oshawa general ticket holder, retired GM executive, grandson plays in the OHL, not for Oshawa, but Eastern Conference. I’ve moved out close to Owen Sound, I love the grittiness of this level of hockey, but but London gets favouritism all the time, no matter what team they’re playing, especially when it gets tighter and tighter and longer into the playoff run.

I have yet to become a diehard Attack fan, as I’ve got to root for my grandson’s team.

But the fan base at the attack games is incredible, and it’s nice to see so many kids at the games.

I hope you are coming to game 3 and 4.

A full Bayshore is a unique playoff experience .

London fan here. Just want to acknowledge the Attack winning that 2nd period. That's something for the players & coaching staff to build on, coming back to the Bayshore. I can recall the year that the Knights struggled with Evangelista & Stranges being the main offensive contributors, and little to no secondary scoring to speak of. Next season Cowan & Barkey were rookies, but showed glimpses of future potential. That would appear to be where the Attack is, development-wise. You've got some REALLY promising youngsters, and that 2nd period has to be a genuine confidence builder, going forward. Gotta also give a thumbs-up to the play of former Knight Alex Leonard. He plays a solid game, and lends a veteran presence, which helps younger players along their development process.

Your 2nd period was some of the best hockey I’ve seen played against the Knights this season. If the Attack build on that and come out firing like that in game 3 on home ice look out. I can believe where your team finished in the standings considering how good your team looks. Carter George is awesome and the fact you return him and the majority of this squad next season is awesome! If your forwards put on more weight and muscle thus off-season next year the league needs to watch out!

The truth will set you free! ;)

I will be there and I must admit it’s kind of nice having a favourite team in one conference and a favourite team in the other conference, I just have to hope that my grandson doesn’t play the attack at some point, in a conference final

A quick question for you Owen Sound folks. We haven't been to the sound in a little while. Any suggestions on where to eat before the game. I'll look the up if there are recommendations. I did see something Boot and Blade? Not sure what it's like? We are also not picky, like to support local so no chains if possible. Thank you all that reply

Mudtown Station, Casero's, Papi's Eatery, Elsie's Diner (though it's far from the rink), to name a few. Would recommend Parkwood but don't think it's open today.
