Owen Sound Attack 2024-25 Season Thread, Part II

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

London is a great team, and they will have the help of the referees throughout the game.
Ya ok... Like OS would make the series close... How about saying this will be a great learning experience for a young OS team which will help them in the future. George was kept to give the young talent a chance to compete every game. Every year most opposing fans say the Refs are on London's side, how about looking at power play opportunities teams have against London and say it with a straight face LK are favoured.

Sure favoured, but George can steal games no doubt. Plus you have some good scorers up front so can win games 2-1 or 1-0

The upside to the bar being set so low the past two seasons is that any game the Attack can win in this series makes this season more successful than the last two. I think the goal, and hope, should be to get George his first OHL playoff win.

Anything else is a bonus and it's been a fun season salvaged from a disastrous November/December.

I am certain that fans, players and coaches from the 19 other teams will agree that London gets a lot of favoritism. Perhaps it has something to do with filling up an arena and OHL gets a cut of ticket sales.

The biggest concern should be that if London players know they’re getting favoritism, an opposing team player could get seriously injured, with refs doing nothing about it when games get out of hand.

Looking at the cupboard, I'd say the team is not in a position to trade for a defected player. If Delisle goes earlier, so be it. Doesn't appear that there's a clear #1 so no sense paying up when we are likely to get a comparable player at 5th.

I'm hoping the Attack use one of those seconds to take the best goalie available. If the plan is keeping George through next year, they have two goalies who'd like to start available to trade, and a 16 year old with upside would be the perfect understudy for George next season.

Unfortunately I don't think the import expansion helps the Attack. It makes it easier to keep one of the current imports (I'm on record before for keeping Varosyan, as much as my bias would like to see Bleicher stick around), but until the team is willing to pony up for a higher end import, we're taking flyers on guys from more obscure programs like we have been. Unlikely these later round import picks end up better than what we've got, regardless of country or origin.
I’ve never been able to understand why we have an import draft that takes positions away from Ontario born hockey players. Most of the imports play one or two seasons and then they return home.

Ugh that’s a killer goal with 1 second left. Played a great second period in o make it 3-1 would’ve been huge going into the third down 2 instead of 3. Gotta get that puck out of the zone there. Learning curve I guess.

Well if we keep taking stupid penalties it’s gunna be ugly. Boys need to control their emotions. Ya ya I know young team. But it’s the so called vets doing this nonsense. Forwards need to help the D out better in game two.

It was a game where the coach had no game plan other than try to rough them up and play stupid hockey..
And how do you know that?

You come on here daily and just wine about everything all the time? I do t even think your a fan because I never see you post about guys like Mbuyi or Zurawski or any other success they have. It’s just complaining

Me too, but to suggest that there was no game plan is silly. Of course there was, it’s just the best team in the league they are playing and the Atrack are a bunch of kids
We got out coached and he didn’t make any adjustments. He didn’t control his players at all.. that’s not how you’re going to best London by always taking stupid penalties. Ya I complain a lot. But he clearly had no game plan. Put the kid line back together and see what happens.

Like I said. I didn't expect to win. As a matter of fact I'm not surprised that it was 6-1. But this is supposed to be a teachable moment for the new kids. Instead we played silly, took dumb penalties and then woke the giant. Now we have two hurt players and a really pissed off London Knights team. Even Doyle commented that Hunter put out his #1 power play unit in a 6-1 game...to send a message. Just play hockey and try to improve as a team and London will do the same. I apologize for the rant.
