Dean Letourneau drafted by Bruins, going to Boston College. Big kid. Too bad we did not sign him a few years back. Congrats to Carter George!

Sam McCue was just drafted by the Leafs.

Whats the scouting report on him?

Where and who's the goalie coach if all are set?

Hes a solid power forward who digs in the corners and isn't afraid to take hus lumps in the blue paint .
Plays a similar style to his brother Max (London Knights)
Sam won the Robertson Cup with Peterborough against Max's Knights in 22/23.
Of course brother Max won the Robertson this year .

Would comparing his playstyle to someone like Tyler Bertuzzi make sense?

I think that would be a pretty fair comparison. Maybe a little more finish than Bert at this point in his OHL career. He should get lots of opportunity in the Owen Sound offense this year to further grow and develop his game.

CHL import draft is tomorrow. Attack currently hold picks 21 and 81. They've stated they intend to use both picks. It will be interesting to see how things play out. Two areas on the roster that could be addressed through the import picks would be right shot D and a centreman. The Attack blueline is left handed heavy and a natural right shot could add some balance. The Attack forward group is a little thin at center, especially with Guindon's status uncertainty, and adding a piece into the mix would definitely help an area lacking experience. It would certainly be tidy business to potentially plug two roster holes through the import draft.

Not a ton of information, but his HFboards thread for those interested.

Already put up points in the German 3rd tier league, but probably more impressive is he played at the U18s as an underager. The perfect type of player to pluck in the import draft as he's not signed to a higher tier team, and looking for exposure ahead of the draft.

Left hand shot, good skater, his six goals in a semi-pro men's league at 16 suggests there's some offence to his game. Looks like a good two-way player in the making.

Hopefully turns out better than the last kid from Fuessen we drafted, Julian Staub (now Bleicher's teammate) who came over but didn't make the team.

Rafik Varosyan also selected.

Will be hanging on DeGray's every word to the media after these picks. What little we know about Varosyan indicates he could be a player if he wants to come over. 2nd in u17 scoring in the MHL this season, doesn't play for one of the big russian teams, and in the past 5 years almost everyone who has scored as well as he has at 16 in that league has gone on to be NHL drafted.

On paper, and based on their production in their respective leagues, both look like they should step in and be contributors right away. Just have to see if both come.

Obviously pretty tough to really know what you're getting in the import draft or whether or not they intend to come over and play but both picks today look like players. Bleicher adds to our glut on the left side of the blueline and with seven D currently rostered(including K.Smith) somebody is likely moving out if Bleicher commits. Varosyan put up good numbers in the MHL and would project to add some much needed offense in the Attack forward group if they can get him to come. Both players being 07s is quite intriguing. Varosyan is a late birthday and not NHL draft eligible until 2026.

Some comments from GermanSpitifire on Bleicher.

If both are coming then I would have to believe that they would get some pretty significant ice time with this group. Figure the top pick is a shoe in, seems like the 2nd round pick should come, not sure it that means he will come.

Mason Roy another Josh Barnes?

Correct me if I'm wrong, was Roy not in Owen Sound at the draft and talking to fans, with a jersey on?

Pretty interesting read from Greg Cowan. DeGray expects both import players to come to Owen Sound. Also mentions Mikus is expected to sign before camp.

Figured that Mikus would sign, they wouldn't take a 2007 born player without knowing if he was coming.

Also now that we have confirmation that both are headed to Owen Sound, that's great news. The defenceman seems like a future power play quarterback and the import sounds like a bit of a hidden gem.
