Noting for future reference that despite the fact that he is 19 years old, Power will not be eligible to have his ELC slide. Assuming that he signs to finish out the season, he'll burn the first year of his three year ELC, regardless of how many games he plays.

Yep, he counts as being 20 per the CBA, even though he will not turn 20 until later in the year. IIRC, I posted the why a few pages back.

he was much more aggressive at the start of the year

just seemed tired to me

Yeah, I've had that thought as well since he came back from the U20's. In the B10 final, he was more of his early season self. I haven't watched today's game yet to see how that stacks up... possibly tomorrow... maybe Saturday.

It's a long season so I can see it adding up

worlds
draft
michigan season
U20
Olympics
back to school
NCAA tournament

that is a ton of emotions

And a ton of travel and upheaval with how the U20 and Olympic COVID testing was handled. I'm sort of hoping the U20's isn't in the middle of the summer for the simple reason that I'd like to see him getting more rest and off-ice work in. Then I watch the hattrick game highlights and want to see him in a Nat's jersey being ridiculously good again. Decisions, decisions...

I thought Power had a good game. Denver was a force TBH.
Yeah, he had one brain fart give away, but other than that I thought he was solid. One thing I said in the College hockey thread is how well Power uses his body to protect the puck in the defensive zone. He will be able to do that at the NHL level eventually, but I think at the begininng he may get pushed off the puck a bit just because NHL players are such a force. I liked what I saw though. He makes calm good plays in the defensive zone.

Hopefully they get him signed next week, so we can get him in here and get him a taste of NHL action.

I’m excited for him to come in and slot behind both Dahlin and Sammy. That’s proper deployment for a young kid just making his way into the league. After listening to Adams and Granato repeatedly say they want to put players in the right position to succeed, I have no doubt the only savior treatment this kid gets will be from fans that don’t know better.

These D pairings for the game in Toronto wouldn't look bad:

Dahlin-Jokiharju
Samuelsson-Bryson
Power-Pysyk

It'll be intresting to see who's favored th erest of the season, Fitz or Bryson. They may just keep getting rotated in and out.
You would think one of Pysak or Miller is going to end up paired with Power. So the question is who do you like more with Samuelsson?

I would like to think that this will be Pysyk's audition for next year potentially as well. If he gels well with Power, I think that would lead to a pretty automatic re-signing attempt. If it doesn't work-out, I don't see much reason in re-signing him at this point.

I really do believe Adam's has a trade in the chamber for the off-season to partner with Power. A younger, established vet that is under contract.

Agreed. I hearken back to Adam's post-deadline presser when he essentially said that while no trades were struck, the grounds were laid for future possibilities. You'd have to think that this type of trade would be forefront on his mind.

Young established vet is Connor Murphy.

But KA specifically said players who were needed for playoff runs so that wouldn't be Murphy. Gudas I think.

He also inferred that he has things in the works when he was on after the whistle.
