I watched a good chunk of the first two periods of the Isles-Rangers game last night.

Chara was so slow. Like he may be the slowest NHL skater I have ever seen.

The play where Kreider beat him up the ice was an amazing example of how slow he is. Kreider started at his own blueline, Chara at the redline, and Kreider was already ahead of him by the time he got to the Isles blueline.

Back to Power himself, here is UM's preview of tomorrow's game: Michigan to Battle for B1G Tournament Championship Saturday - University of Michigan Athletics

That was the most glaring example of it. But, there were plenty of other ones, as well.

His length, his 10 foot long stick, and his IQ are the only reasons that he is even in the lineup on a regular basis at this point.

The hardest of passes for me.

I'm about to date myself but I could see Power being a Larry Robinson type d-man once his frame fills out and he gets a little time in the league.

Are there defensemen like Larry Robinson in the NHL now?

I see what you're getting at but Larry had a mean streak that I don't see out of Power. I would love for Larry to have some time coaching Power (and Dahlin), but that's just not going to happen.

I'm not necessarily talking about Robinson in the physicality department but his overall game. There aren't many, if any, d-men that scare anyone phyically anymore.

Interesting how Petry's fancy stats have rebounded with MSL behind the bench in Montreal. Granted, the way Hughes took teams to the woodshed at the deadline makes me think he'd outsmart Adams 9 times out of 10, but he's still the guy I keep coming back to as the player who could show Power the way and also make a helluva an addition to the team's blueline.

Listening to the Portillo podcast, sounds like Power is a stick guy since he's doing tape jobs for Portillo to spice up Erik's style. :biglaugh:
