There is a very large gap between Suzuki's puck skills/vision and Beck's puck skill/vision. Beck plays a simple north/south game without a whole lot of creativity whereas Suzuki is far more dynamic and creative. Beck is much closer to Evans than he is to Suzuki.

He will fill a similar role to Danault but will go about it in a very different way. Beck plays a much more linear, aggressive game and has much more of a shooter's mentality.

I would refer to Beck as more of a Steve Begin with a higher IQ and a nasty shot. Stylistically he is closer to Begin, Skrudland and a center version of Mike Keane. Danault is a very dedicated F3 who hunts passing lanes more than he applies pressure to opponents.

No two players are alike so I am not a fan of such comparison's other than to paint a general outline of their projection.

Suzuki light is a ceiling narrative. I think it fits

But you have to admit that Evans + is far more likely.

F/Os are important, but we have to be realistic that it's not such a concern, unless you only win a quarter of them like Dach does (exaggerating to make the point -- 40%).

Most great F/O pivots are closer to 50% the 55%. The opponent still starts with possession on plays about half the time.

If Beck dominates near 60% regularly, as he has done in Juniors for long stints, it becomes a marked advantage. If, however, against grown men, he is more of a 50% F/O C, although better than Dach and other such Cs, it's still not dominant.

We'll see for F/Os once he plays regularly at C and starts taking F/Os regularly. He'll also maybe need a year to take notes on different opposing Cs and their styles, or more as he adds strength to playnagainst the big boys.

I really like Beck and I think he has more upside than 4th line C (he could become man elite C, though and carve out a good payday as such for a long time - 10 years around 3.5M-4M after his ELC is still a nice 40ish Million payday. He should be able to squirrel away a few dollars.

It's a good asset but I hope it's not just that. By this logic some people here think Dvorak was useful cuz he's the only lefthand center and he wins faceoffs. I can't hve enough space to tell how much Dvo sucks in every other aspects of the game. I think the meme of Runner shows it without words.

I don't like comparaisons of Becks play. I find the estimatedprophet the closest to what Beck will become. But let's say Beck will become an useful center with his own style. He's gone to become better than Evans and Dvorak by a mile.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Heineman and Beck can do on the same line. I think they can form a great 3rd line together.

I'd like to see Heineman - Beck - Newhook as a 3rd line next year. All pretty quick, Heine has the shot, Beck the smarts and I think Newhook could complement them well. Roy could also be an option, but he would need a huge offseason.

Not to mention Laval are pretty beat up right now.

Hate to say it, but I see anyone but Newhook in the top-12.

In your description, I'd have said, "Heine has the shot, Beck has the smarts and Newhook has absolutely nothing extra to bring to the table other than skating fast -- No defense, no offense, no physicality and no hockey smarts."

needless to say I'd go Heineman - Beck - Roy, but, as an aside, the real line I'd like tp see is the purely Euro line of:

Heineman - Kapanen - Laine

Anderson might be a good fit on that line too. Depending which version of Anderson shows up.

I think many of us expected Beck full time by TDL.
It was that small run the Habs went on that got everyone in a twist.
