I'm expecting Beck to be with the big club once the deadline hits and to finish the season with the Habs before returning to Laval for the playoffs
Are you expecting that many injuries to open a roster spot as the UFA's that Montreal has no one will take.

I fully expect guys like Evans and Armia to be moved. Dvorak is still a possibility depending on his play but if there are no takers for him come deadline I would put him on waivers and send him down to Laval and in the press box!

With the shot and skating Beck has I'm not sure why anyone would doubt the offensive potential.
It's predictable. Most haven't watched Beck that much so when they read that Beck is good defensively and is good on face-offs, we have a player that for all intents and purposes, is pigeon- holed in many minds as a 4th line player for eternity. Maybe it's because he was selected as the CHL's Scholastic Player of the Year in 2022 - a good academic player can't possibly be a productive future NHLer.

One would want to ask those who have doubted this player's upside why Beck was repeatedly acquired by contending teams during his OHL career. They didn't acquire him because he's a good dresser.

I've followed this player closely since we drafted him. Beck has superior skating ability, a high hockey IQ, a surprising level of physicality and a very underrated shot. It's not surprising that at 20 he's playing on Laval's first power play unit. I was always puzzled why the Saginaw didn't play Beck more on their power play. When he did, Beck and Parekh formed a formidable offensive threat. Parekh was always looking for Beck at the left half boards for a one-timer. Beck has a deadly one timer.

I am anxious to see if Hutson in a couple of years isn't looking to feed Beck on the power play. It should be interesting to watch.

The kid has a good future. Hopefully Hughes won't trade him for a quick fix.

As a Knights season ticket holder Damm Beck in Back to Back years lol.
As a Habs fan, glad he will be part of the mix ;)

I know how closely you follow the Rocket, so hearing you say this gets me excited!
You know I am not an advocate for rushing young players but I would consider bringing him up soon to center Newhook and Dach. He can skate with them, he is good on face offs, has a great shot, high hockey IQ. I think he can help the Habs right now. If nothing else give him 10 games and see.

This Habs team needs a spark & I suspect Beck will be the call up to give the team that immediate boost.

I would not. I really like Beck, was high on him at the draft since I am a big fan of high IQ two way centers. So I would not want him to have any part to the dumpster fire happening with the big club. ;)

The best thing about his production is that it's almost all coming for his motor and hard work, stuff that should translate well at the next level. He's moving his feet non stop.
This is what I see with Beck, he's really smart and technically skilled, and what he may lack in offensive creativity/poise, he makes up for with a Gallagher like work ethic.
He'll wear a letter in the NHL one day

Because the board uses any stretch of 'low' production as confirmation bias that a player is a bust. There's never any context to be added to numbers.

It didn't matter how many times I pointed out how numbers dropped for players going to Peterborough and numbers climbed for players leaving Peterborough, people who wanted him to be another bust for the Habs team used it as proof he was a bust.
That and they clearly didn't watch him play.
Owen Beck was one of the ONLY reasons Peterborough won the OHL title.
When he moved to Saginaw a number of us who understood his game were over the moon.
Particularly with his Mem Cup experience going to a Host team.
What a fantastic year he had and Saginaw wins nothing without Owen Beck.
It's his ability to tilt the ice in most games that I like best about this player.

You guys did yourselves a favor by winning the division by the slimmest of margins.
I'm wondering what the finals would have looked like if you had to play the Soo Greyhounds before facing Saginaw.
Three very solid teams right there.

Beck would be so lost playing on the Habs since they other players have no idea what they are doing, unlike in Laval.

There isn't a style game or moment in a game you can't use Owen Beck
