Maybe it has something to do with Dach?

Oh great, another injury for Dach.

Anderson hasn't practiced in forever. Something is definitely up with him, but I still expect him to play tomorrow. He hasn't missed a game.

If there was an issue with Savard, they probably would have called up Mailloux or another D. He's just resting.

Gallagher will play tomorrow. Personal reasons, vague, but likely due to the fact his wife is expecting a baby soon. Probably an appointment or something.

That leaves Dach.

Wouldn't mind seeing Beck in an offensive role. We'll see what they do with the lines if Dach can't go.

I've wanted to see how Beck can do with Laine and also woth Newhook.

Laine to get a window into how a Laine - Beck - Demidov second line would look. And Newhook to see how their chemistry would be in the bottom six.

I feel like Newhook and Beck on the same line is a bit redundant. Both have very similar skillsets. I would rather see Evans replace Dach on the second line to pad his stats ahead of the trade deadline.

Newhook doesn't have the defensive awareness and the playmaking ability of Owen Beck.
I agree with the defensive awareness part. I'm not sure about the playmaking. Newhook was arguably a more skilled passer at the same age and was definetly seen as a better offensive prospect than Beck before graduating. He just kind of stagnated afterwards. Hopefully Beck keeps progressing, but I believe he has never showed the kind of passing skills that warrant a top 6 projection so far.

Why call up another prospect instead of not allowing the youngsters to experience success at the pro level?. The playoff bound Rocket will benefit the prospects and allow them to mature into better players.. If reinforcements are needed, better to call up some vets from Laval. ABB, Dauphin and Condotta are good options.

No one will confuse him with Nick Suzuki but I have seen him make super accurate passing plays both in Laval and in Montreal. Plays that only a player with vision could pull off.
I'd love it if he could work on technique with a puck handling Guru this off season because he has the talent to be better in that area IMO.

The vets are the glue that keeps Laval going. They are needed there. Beck will be back soon enough.

I highly doubt 10-20 games will make any difference. As long as he's back in laval for the playoffs the nhl experience is more important. People should stop panicking for no reason. Laval is almost sure to make the playoffs and Beck will be back in laval for the playoffs since they start after the NHL season ends.

This sucks for an already depleted Laval. I could care less about the Habs at this point. I don’t see them winning another 5 games this year.

I am with you when it comes to having Laval succeed but we have to remember why a farm team exists...to develop young players and to provide reinforcements when injuries arise.
It has to be a total relief for Hughes to have Beck come in and play this way.
This player will be better than Jake Evans he just will.
It's not going to take him a century to get there either.

I’m a season ticket holder for Laval and I dont really care. Beck deserve to play in the nhl. Dont forget how much more money he makes in the NHL. If he play well with the Habs, keep him up. The AHL is a development league.

Beck tonight and during his most recent call up has confirmed that he can skate and play at the NHL level. He will progress faster playing against superior competition he will be facing at the NHL level. I can’t see them sending him back to Laval.

we’ll have to see but Anderson is probably out for a stretch, Beck will be a valuable sub given he can play up & down the lineup.

It will tick off the whiners if Tuch, Davidson or FloJack get called up for a look if Anderson can’t go. However they are the future. ABB certainly has experience and has worked hard for a look this year. We have sooo many forwards on the Rocket that are just too slow for the show.

Beck has NHL skating and skill. He just needs reps at the NHL level.
Marty had a lot to say on Beck.
"He has figured out how to bring something to the game in the NHL"
"He's got great assets"
"That line was committed to the bigger cause not doing what they like to on the ice but what we need them to do" He went on to talk about willingness to do "The Job" vs what they like to do.

Methinks he likes this Lad.
