As a Sens fan, Kessel doesn't deserve over half the hate he gets. He is an amazing player, and the ******** about him having a poor work ethic is either not true, or just a product of the losing atmosphere that Toronto has had as of late.

These issues existed before Kessel became a Leaf. Sure, maybe he could get some criticism for not doing more to change the direction of the team (which would be an immense order to take), but I agree with Ovechkin. It's a team problem, not a Phil Kessel problem.

Is that why Ovechkin refused to do interviews in English during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. He was worried the Canadian media would pick on him? Anyways, he is just stating what numerous other players stated about Kessel over the weekend (e.g., comments made Toews during the player All-Star draft).

Nonetheless, there is a reason star players love to play in the US markets. They can focus on playing hockey and leading a somewhat more private life owing to the fraction of media coverage they receive compared to the intense spotlight that are the Canadian markets.

If I were Ovi I wouldn't talk to the Canadian media, especially in Toronto. I'd tell them to **** off.

It really shows something when the Leafs coach assigns Clarkson the A before Kessel. To be fair, JVR got nothing either.
