So you're saying that if players want to play in small markets that's fine but they should be paid less for doing so. Big markets like Toronto shouldn't be penalized as much as they are cause they bankroll the NHL.

their are pros and cons to everything so basically yeah. there's a reason why they are a smaller market, and there's a reason why you're not in the spotlight. that's your decision and you make it, just like if i want to work for a smaller company i can't demand to be paid the same as i would in a fortune 500 one.

you (and a lot of players) want the bread buttered on both sides and not leave a messs on the plate and go "well you should keep their players." which is fair but why should the rich teams pay for the poorer teams to do so then be spat on on top of it. that doesn't sit right with me.

neither does the nonsense that teams should be 'punished' for making bad decisions though that's a horse of a different colour

I think Shanny focus grouped this whole thing and that's why they never did anything meaningful. There is more than enough idiots who will happily line up and hand over cash for a 10th rerun if they can. Him being on the way out is more due to getting bored of shearing the same sheep every year for record profits.

I don’t know if Hunter would have done any better but they should have let Lou handle the contracts for the core guys and the Leafs should not have signed Tavares or any big free agent before they locked up their core.

I hate hearing about the Leafs internal cap structure when arguing why these guys deserve the contracts they signed.

I did not like Lou, and was glad he was gone, but ive slowly come around to this line of thinking - they promoted Dubas to GM at the worst possible time, and then fired Dubas as GM at the worst possible time too.

Those are all a series of decisions that will have set this franchise back
