Ovechkin's Historic Milestones This Season

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

This season:

- Alex Ovechkin (39 years, 62 days) is the oldest player in NHL history to be the League’s first skater to 15 goals in a season. Prior to Ovechkin, the oldest player was Frank Mahovlich (33, 304 on Nov. 10, 1971).

- Alex Ovechkin (39 years, 62 days) became the oldest player in NHL history to score in at least five consecutive regulation periods. A 38-year-old Teemu Selanne scored in six consecutive regulation periods from Oct. 27-31, 2008.

- Alex Ovechkin scored his 41st career goal against Marc-Andre Fleury (regular season & playoffs) to pass Brett Hull (40 vs. Tim Cheveldae) for the most by a player versus one goaltender in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967-68).

- Alex Ovechkin scored his 13th career overtime goal on the road to surpass Jaromir Jagr and John Tavares for the most in NHL history.

- Ovechkin surpassed Jaromir Jagr record in most goalies, he has scored at least one goal (179).

- Alex Ovechkin is the first player in NHL history to record 200-plus goals in three different decades (also 245 in 2000s & 437 in 2010s).

- Alex Ovechkin scored his 636th goal in a win and passed Wayne Gretzky (635) for the most in NHL history.

Any others?

Some of these are really stretching it.

Edit: Second on the ball. Would say second to last one is a cool trivia/record.

Some of them are legit (most against one goaltender, thank Fleury for your sacrifice) but I don't think Ovechkin needs any of these "first to do it since a Wednesday on a Blue Moon in January" type of accolades... Looks kind of desperate to justify who we already know he is amongst the Hockey Olympiad.

A great is a great and his number is 8.

Also this is the first time anybody has ever done those with the Vegas Golden Knights in the league making it doubly historic.
