5 most iconic

Most entertaining season was 08-09 + playoffs versus Pittsburgh. He may not have put up the massive numbers like he did in the season before and after this one but he was just a one man wrecking crew out there that was so dominant. Even though the Penguins were the eventual winners of that series and Cup champions, I was worried the entire time that Ovi would single-handedly will the Caps to victory. I just can't think of any other player I've ever watched that seemed so unstoppable, maybe Mario?
Maybe you should think about that Malkin Guy at the same year then?

There were heroes on both sides...

To be fair even Malkin said he needed to step up and do more after the Washington series. He almost single handedly destroyed Carolina in the conference finals putting on and astounding performance over the four game sweep. Crosby took over in the Caps series and Malkin did afterwards.

2006 - I don't know if he had the best rookie season of all-time, but he's in contention for it. Iconic season to kickstart his career

2008 - Peak season, his best showing. Swept awards

2009 & 2010 - More peak seasons. They're a bit more "boring" than the others, but to me Ovechkin is who he is in large part because of his 3 year peak, so it's hard to ignore any of the 3.

2025 - Beating the all-time goal-record is certainly iconic. Hard to ignore it

Runner-ups:

2018 - I really wanted to find room for the cup/smythe win. But honestly - it was a bit of a "run of the mill" cup/smythe win. Great performance and all - but nothing that stands out "all time" - a lot of players have won cups and smythes. The rookie season, the all-time great peak, the goal-record - those are more iconic to me.

2013 - This was important because people thought he was "done" after 2 slower years...and even halfway through this year, he was sucking, and Caps were out of playoffs...then he goes onto close to a ~goal per game pace for last ~30 games or so, helps Caps make playoffs, win division and wins the hart at the same time. Heck of a turnaround for him. I'd have this one seventh.

Amazing career.
Awesome read, Bobholly

Well McDavid in recent times fit this to a tee, even more so than Ovechkin actually.

Where was Super McDavid during last year's Stanley Cup final? He really stood out in one or two games in that series but otherwise he did not make anywhere near the impact that Ovechkin typically does in most of the playoff series that he has been in.

For this poll, it's not necessarily talking about Ovechkin's 5 best seasons, but the 5 seasons that are his most iconic. The ones that are talked about the most and the ones that are most memorable to fans.
Why isn't 18/19 an option? It's Ovechkin's 2nd highest point total in the last 15 years.

Not surprised 06, 08, 18, and 25 are far away ovis most iconic seasons. Those seasons have defined Ovechkin's career, at the very top.

The top 4 are pretty clear to me.

05/06 - Calder, 50 goal rookie year.
07/08 - Breakout from star to superstar best player in the league, and dragged a mediocre team to the playoffs. Also signed his 13 year contract.
17/18 - Cup.
24/25 - Catching Wayne.

After that it gets harder.
