It’s just due to age and his reduced stamina. It’s the right decision by the coaching staff.

You can also see that his OT time has been drastically reduced. He typically doesn’t even appear on ice before a face-off because if the Caps lose a face-off, he could be forced to defend on massive ice for a long time. Again, it’s the right thing to do by the coaching staff.

OV didnt need to score any of his last 70-80 goals to be the GOAT goap scorer.

The 9 Rockets (leading league in goal) really seals the deal for me.

I have Crosby ahead of OV all time but no reason to hate OV and deny hes the GOAT goal scorer and a top~10 player ever

Or nursing himself back from the injury. He'll be fine. We should know this by now.

This too, but his time in back-to-backs has been limited even before the injury. The body of a nearly 40-year old is much slower and doesn't recover as fast. So, the coaching staff is doing the right thing.

And I would like to sing another praise to the current Caps' coaching staff. A few years back, when Lavi was the coach, he would put Ovi on ice BEFORE a face-off in OT. And I wanted to pull my hair out because if the Caps were to lose that face-off -- even it was in the offensive zone -- Ovi could get stuck playing defense for more than a minute, and this would lead to multiple OT losses. Or even if the Caps didn't allow a goal on that shift after defending, Ovi wouldn't be able to recover quickly enough for another shift. It was a sheer stupidity in my book.

So, now, in the Carbs era, I see that Ovi is virtually never on ice before a face-off (unless it's a PP). Moreover, he typically isn't on ice when the Caps gain posession of the puck. But once the Caps cycle the puck once or twice, he hops over the bench to play against tired players of the opposition. This is just a smart thing to do! I am absolutely elated that the Caps have such a young and talented coach now who knows his players' strengths and weaknesses.

It's from NHL.com players stats, just filter by W/L/OT then subtract their GP from their team GP record and you will find team GP without them:
WSH with Ovi: 800-474-179 =.612
WSH w/o Ovi: 36-34-5 =.513
PIT with Sid: 725-449-142 =.605
PIT w/o Sid: 121-64-28 =.634

Mcdavid (3rd to 5th all time) > Crosby (6th to 10th all time) > OV (8th to 12th all time)

Gap between Crosby and OV is smaller than Gap between Mcdavid and the other two

Mack, Kuch, Drai are the current potential treats to 8 and 87s legacy.

If they keep racking up the trophies and major award nominations (for another 2-3 years) then the old era stars are going to drop all time lists lile Jokic and Giannis are doing in the NBA

Fixed: Mcdavid+Drai > Crosby+Malkin > OV
Ovi's hardware x1.6 bigger than Sid's.
If NHL didn't ban him Ovi's hardware would be x2 bigger (even more Ross) than Sid's.
Sid's hardware would halve without Malkin who factored in up to 50% points during their peaks.
Same with McDavid.

He stopped being the best player in the world from 2010 when he became a solely goal scorer.

Your takes are crazy.

Mcdavid is a level OV could never touch. He is the best talent the league has ever seen.

Crosby trophy case is hurt by injuries. He would have more awards and ALL NHL teams if he didnt get hurt. Still not equal to Mcdavids dominance, buy crosby was comfortably the leagues best player from 2011 to 2017 when he was healthy. His career ppg is still highe than OV despite the career injuried simply due to him being abke to sustain his offensive dominance longer than OV did

Lol posts like this are so stupid. I will only use 2 seasons of crosbys where he was dominating the league n got hurt
10-11 and 12-13. Im not even gonna use 11-12 or 07-08.

With just the 2 former seasons again just 2 we have

Sid created no one.
Ovi created #6 secondary assistant of all time (by A2/GP, with >=1000 GP).
