Games are getting tighter now down the stretch. I think he needs one or two multi goal games to make it happen this year. Otherwise I just don´t see it. The Caps sechedule has Boston, Chicago, Buffalo and Pittsburgh as teams who are done and the way Boston is playing these days and the Hawks being one of the leagues worst defences these two games are his chances in my opinion for a multi goal game. It is still possible

Such a strange time when 2 assists is a disappointment for a player isn’t it?

Right? Especially when they were both shooting opportunities for himself, but he made the unselfish play and created a goal for teammates.

When his Ovi’s mom Tatiana (of Soviet basketball fame) was 7 she was hit by a car while walking home from school and broke her leg badly, to the point where it was almost amputated. She missed a year of school convalescing and when she finally returned she was forbidden from participating in gym class.

To strengthen her leg she devised her own rehab program which consisted of wrapping a plastic bag filled with bricks around her foot and doing leg lifts

The Capitals and Jets have been the No. 1 seed in their respective conferences since Dec. 31 and Jan. 14, respectively, and have taken turns atop the overall standings during that span.

This season Ovechkin is 6th in the NHL in points per 60 at 5 on 5, and 2nd in the NHL in goals per 60 at 5 on 5.

Just a tremendous season all around and no "PP one timer" nonsense can even be suggested (granted that's always been overstated).

I can't think of any other player who was on pace for 50 goals in a season at age 38. Most players are on the decline by age 35.

Just got funsies... For years, people claimed a belief that Ovie was actually several years older than he was listed/claimed to be.

Imagine if he was scoring at these rates at 41+ .

I can't think of any other player who was on pace for 50 goals in a season at age 38. Most players are on the decline by age 35.

Don't forget Howe scored 44 goals at age 40 in 76 games. 47 goal pace for an 82 game season. And also still put up 30+ at ages 41 (NHL), and 45, 46, 47, 49 (WHA). It's not 50 but still damn impressive.

Anyone who claims to be a fan of hockey should feel happy for being able to witness history in the making.

I dont even give a f*** about the caps but watching Ovi break the record would be so damn satisfying.
