A couple of thoughts:

1) A lot of people were thinking he might limp to the record or stick around too long and become a compiler.

It's great to see him still going strong with 55 goals in his last 82 games.

2) Starting this year with 15 goals in his first 18 games, missing 16 games and then still breaking the record just adds to the lore if he breaks it this season.

I can't believe how durable he is. Most guys who have played 20 years have body issues of some kind. How could you not. Scoring 50 at his age is rarified air.
