No one has Gretzky's cheat code. They just being kicked out from behind the net (and Gretzky wasn't, that's why he has more assists than anyone has points - it's not that hard to understand).

Apologies....stupid me, I was being dumb and thinking Gretzky was racking up assists because he was really good.....now that I've seen your videos, I understand it's simply because no one else had the cheat code.

It wasn't in NHL. In NHL Gretzky was protected and touching him was prohibited. His bodyguards didn't care about whether hits were clean or not, they just punched to the face.

Suter didn’t care about Gretzky’s bodyguards and he would gladly exchange a major penalty for taking Gretzky off a division rival’s roster. He played the Kings 6 times that year and didn’t even get involved in a fight, despite a bunch of brawls involving the 4th line goons on both teams.

The hit came in 1991, when goons fought goons and the idea of protecting the stars with a deterrent was becoming a cliche memory. Suter took out Gretzky and nothing happened, Adam Graves took out Lemieux and nothing happened, just a few years later we had Lindros and for that matter Kariya getting taken out by Suter once again. Anyone beat Suter to a pulp over that one? Did he really care if they tried?

No, pointing out that there have been some high scoring games recently. Everyone knows scoring was higher during certain time periods, it’s not up for debate so it sure why evidence is being shown

WTH, a goldfish memory? If you don't remember previous post, just read it again. That was reply on quoted "Top50" players. Any of them is/was really good. It's more than a hundred years of hockey. To be in the top50 you need to be really good.
And to have more assists than anyone has points in 100+ years of hockey only possible with... in this case being untouchable and spam assists behind the net without any problem, any top50 player could do that, it's not a hard job for them at all, they know the game.

No one else was granted the cheat code…appears that any top 50 player could rack up 160 assists a year easily if they had the same cheat code…seems like a reasonable opinion I guess

Caps have played 52 games this season, 30 more to go.
17 in 30 would have been almost a sure bet for a bit younger Ovechkin; let's hope he still has the energy to make it.

Screw the "haters and detractors." I almost feel bad that they are unable to enjoy this. We're witnessing history...a record I *never* thought I'd see broken. Would be cool to see him do it in under 25 games, but frankly I couldn't care less how it happens so long as it happens.
