yesAI is good with pics but not smart enough to answer simple ques
It was fun to watch. No need to hate on Gretzky.Gretzkys era wasn’t as impressive as you old heads think it is.
You could say the otherway around, there was some swede who almost got his toe cut off when he was "initiated" by the older guys on the team, the customs back then, and the pampering and the easy travelling and so forth today, modern ammenities, its about the difference of staying at a 5 star hotell in vegas vs a hostel in rural mississippiGretzkys era wasn’t as impressive as you old heads think it is.
19 games is small sample size though, before ovechkin got injured he was on pace for 68 goals, 45 assist, and 113 points in 82 games at 39 years old compare that to Matthew last season 69 goals, 38 assist, 107 points in 81 games at 26 years old. its crazy that a 39 year old ovechkin is doing that against a prime Matthews.
he's been playing at the same level he was before he got injured since he's been back so we can't count out that he wouldn't have stuck to that pace.19 games is small sample size though,
his last 41 games is 64 goals/season pace
last 59 games 58 goals/season pace
last 82 games is 45 games (includes 9 and 8 games dry slumps)
around 50-55 goals pace is amazing and more accurate for comparison purposes IMO
yes, there is some probability to have such pace for full season, but 21.6% shooting percentage with 17:40 average TOI behind it s a bit overwhelminghe's been playing at the same level he was before he got injured since he's been back so we can't count out that he wouldn't have stuck to that pace.
Im not saying his shooting percentage will stay up (won't say it won't though you never know) but his goals totals could still be high.yes, there is some probability to have such pace for full season, but 21.6% shooting percentage with 17:40 average TOI behind it s a bit overwhelming
if he didn't get injured and did get 70 goals this season he would have 923 at the end and lets say he would have got atleast 40 next season that puts him at 963 just leaves with 37 goals with more year of playing which would have been very possible.I think he finishes his career with 1000 goals
Possible, but only if he decides to play 2 extra years and hangs them at ripe age 42.I think he finishes his career with 1000 goals
gonna have to stay cup contenders if they wanna keep him that long. which is possible with our good mix of veteran and young players.Possible, but only if he decides to play 2 extra years and hangs them at ripe age 42.
Not sure motivation will be strong enough unless Caps resurgence continues till end of next season and fam approves. With Caps sucking last year he firmly said thats it after 40.
yeah, they are now tied for first in goals for and fifth in goals against and have good reserves in minors, but small sample size againgonna have to stay cup contenders if they wanna keep him that long.
honestly if he played the all of last season how he did after all star break he would have got he was on pace to get 60 and if he would have got 60 ( just add 29 goals that puts him at 891) then 70 that puts him at 961 this season leaving him with 39 goal left to get 1000 and he probably would have at least got 40 goals his last season he would have been able to get 1000 or more.if he didn't get injured and did get 70 goals this season he would have 923 at the end and lets say he would have got atleast 40 next season that puts him at 963 just leaves with 37 goals with more year of playing which would have been very possible.
realistically he is on pace for 55 in 66 games and lets say he gets at least 40 next season that puts him at 947 he would have to play one more season and get 53 goals not saying that wouldn't happen but the probability is low so he would have to play 2 more to get 1000.
I think 2 events: disaster at 2010 Olympics for Russia which hit him personally and 2010 playoffs fiasco for Caps which lead to coaches OV experiments by latter days Boudreau and Hunter, etchonestly if he played the all of last season how he did after all star break he would have got he was on pace to get 60 and if he would have got 60 ( just add 29 goals that puts him at 891) then 70 that puts him at 961 this season leaving him with 39 goal left to get 1000 and he probably would have at least got 40 goals his last season he would have been able to get 1000 or more.
what was up with ovechkin during his 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons?
Here's my take from 9 [edit: 10] years ago. I wasn't exactly wrong. Ovechkin has great longevity, emphasized by this amazingly productive start to a season at age 39 that is better than any stretch of Selanne after age 37.
