The thing is, you can put weight on a damaged ligament. I know it’s Ovie but he probably should have just called it a night and gotten a scan on it.

I remember maybe a decade ago or so that Cam Ward had a knee injury and walked off the ice when they determined he was too hurt to continue only to find out it was an ACL and MCL tear ending his season.

Not saying that's what happened here, but knees are weird like that. You can walk gingerly on it with it being just gone

I hope Ovi's legendary durability just kicks in & it's nothing more than minor sprain.

It would be dumb to lose him like that when he had 15 goals in the middle of his 18'th game.

Hope it's nothing serious but he is in the age where staying healthy is problematic.

Yep. I tore my MCL playing soccer. Felt a "snap", knee felt "heavy", but no real pain. I was able to get home on my own. But it was the next morning when I really felt the pain.
P.S. Just saw the video. I did look like his knee went inwards, so an MCL injury can't be ruled out.

I had a similar experience playing football. Finished the game. Couldn't feel both knees the next morning or bend my legs. Never went to the doctor. Now my knees hurt when it rains. It was either my MCLs, PCLs, or ACLs. Not sure.

Everybody is probably underestimating what a great impact getting rid of buttery soft players like Backstrom and Oshie has had on Ovechkin. Spending time with guys like that will take a toll on you mentally, especially someone like Backstrom. Not surprised Ovechkin has bounced back.
Oh……my…….G……

I don’t even know ……..🙅🏻

We might have a decent chance of being Cup contenders next year, actually, when $15 mil gets freed up for a roster boost after Backstrom’s and Oshie’s contracts end.

So, he could get his chance to win the second Cup in his final year. But I just don’t see him sticking around beyond this.
Uhhh. They’ve spent that almost 15m already man. Their contracts are not relevant.

Come on…..

When Wayne Gretzky was approaching Gordie Howe's goals record (late in the 1993-94 season), Mr. Hockey attended a number of Kings games, in order to give #99 moral support, and in order to witness the historic moment in person.

Hopefully Gretzky takes the same approach with Ovechkin late this season, or early next.
The last game of the regular season is in Pittsburgh. Imagine Ovechkin scoring goal 41 and goal 42 in order to tie and break Gretzky's record while eliminating a super hot Penguins team from making the playoffs. Then Ovechkin and Gretzky will skate around the rink to a standing ovation from the Pittsburgh crowd. A crowd that includes daver, wetcoast and empoleon8771. Now that's got to be worth more than 1 Stanley cup win!

Pens don't need Ovi's help to be eliminated from Playoff spot

Yeah that's true right now. But just imagine Crosby, Malkin, Letang and Karlsson heating up and carrying the Penguins close to a playoff spot and then Ovechkin comes in and just destroys them in the last game of the season. Pretty sweet, right?
