I am a bit stunned why anyone would call Osh a “buttery soft player”. There is a reason why the Caps’ fans have called him a “honey badger”. When he was healthy he was absolutely relentless for his size.
More like "please don't get hurt" player.

I've said in this thread that he'll break the record this season. But it looks like he could do it in less games than Gretz, and win the Rocket while doing it.

I'm not saying either of those things happen. But the fact that it's a discussion 17 games into the season is incredible. Watching Ovie play is something that most of us will enjoy telling our kids/grandkids about. Take it in, sports fans.

I know that his last seasons have been brutal health-wise, but I still can’t cast a stone in his direction. He was an important piece of our championship team. I will still remember him as the Caps’ honey badger.

It would be pretty incredible if Ovie keeps this pace up, or even close to it, and surpasses Gretzky by end of this season

Such a treat to watch this guy competing every night, and I'm not even a Caps fan.

Everybody is probably underestimating what a great impact getting rid of buttery soft players like Backstrom and Oshie has had on Ovechkin. Spending time with guys like that will take a toll on you mentally, especially someone like Backstrom. Not surprised Ovechkin has bounced back.
Hell yeah Mulletman sighting

Don't blame him. Who'd want to stay and live in DC.

The suburbs are lovely, with 7 of the 10 richest counties in the nation. Crime is low in the city as well. Other than traffic, what’s not to like?

Sounds like you’ve spent little to no time here.

As crazy as it sounds (and I hope I'm not jinxing him here) I think OV also has his eyes on the most 50 goal seasons record (he's currently tied with Gretzky and Mike Bossy with 9). Caps fans are well aware of the superhuman will and determination of this dude. Yeah he's 39, but if there's ever been a 39 year old who could actually do it, its him.

Well a huge number of ex or retired Caps from all over stay there after they're done playing. Quite a few actually return there after ending their careers elsewhere. Its the same with ex Redskin/WTF/Commanders players too. So, you know, plenty of people want to stay and live there.

I'm already resigned to seeing a 300 pound version of Ovie roll into training camp next season if he drops 50 goals this season, breaking 895 and ending above 900+ career goals.

Ovechkin hitting the ice looking like an off-season Byfuglien would be hilarious and I hope he does it.

Just a bunch of boring suburbs for rich a-holes. There's nothing to do there. I did enjoy the Lincoln memorial.
