If only started watching hockey in the last 10 or so years, I could def see why you’re shocked and appalled at that hit with how the sport gets covered now. If it’s been longer, then what exactly are we talking about this for? Do you really want to exacerbate the removal of physicality and push the narrative that even this is a dirty hit, just so that you can feel like your team has been properly recognized as an aggrieved party? Get a f***ing grip. And they gave a power play to boot!

I will say that if this is Jake Evans hitting Ovi and Ovi pretends to be hurt for an afternoon, Evans is getting a 1 game suspension. That would be the wrong call, but the league has tipped it's hand on the "star players don't get suspended, people hitting star players do though, regardless of the legality of the play in either case." I personally hate that.

Ovechkin has been suspended 3 times.

I have zero clue how anyone can say the hit is late. In the video from the first post Evans moves the puck after the 4 second mark and he's hit by ovechkin right as the video ticks from 4 to 5. The hit was less than a second from the time he moves the puck. Cry about something else this ain't it.

I don't think Ovy was planning on hitting him as he was going up the ice. Looks like Ovy was looking to cross over at the blueline. But, evans took the puck off PLD and cleared it.

Think that's just 6'2 238 lbs hitting 6'0 190 lbs

OV definitely saw him and braced himself at least, but yea, that was my first thought as well. Puck gets cleared and he turns to exit the zone and incidentally ends up running someone over.
