Out of Town Thread - New Year’s 2025 Edition

Michkov seems dynamite. There are not many excuses needed for his play and his production. The Flyers are lucky to have him.

9pts in his last 5gp, and he’s not looking back.

Maybe he’s the Calder favourite? His TOI might work against him, only 16 or so mins/night on average so far.

Lane Hutson is ahead of him in terms of usage, prominence, and TOI/gp. We’re lucky to have him too. I’d take Hutson over Michkov but we could’ve had both… and the smallest, shiftiest team in the NHL…

I still feel Celebrini is the front runner. Even if Michkov surpased Hutson in points, Celebrini is a more impressive and complete player. For Celebrini, we are also factoring not only his usage but his team as well.

That said, while I get the Calder is typically about points, what Hutson is doing is unprecedented.

The even better news is Flyers are dragging themselves out of a top 5 pick. It looked like they were failing to #4 OA maybe even #3.

Now, they could drop to 8th. Good.

Vancouver's season is essentially over with today's loss. They're 6 points back of St. Louis with only 8 games left to play.

It's been a crazy season for the Canucks.

The Canucks season has been unbelievable. Last year, you had pettersson as one of the better centers in the league, followed by JT Miller who could be a top line guy on many teams. Hughes breaking through as the top dman, and a vezina level goalie in demko.

It just reminds you how delicate a roster can be even when things looks like they are set up well.

Disastrous season there. Petterson needs to pull his head out of his ass and go back to being the 100 point player he’s supposed to be. If not, they’re in serious trouble going forward

There's minimal doubt left in my mind that Quinn Hughes walks in 2 years or is traded before that happens. That franchise is in shambles.

They have to pull it together. They can’t afford to have Hughes walk. It would kill the franchise.
Canucks are in such a greasy spot.

First, do they trade EP before his NTC kicks in this summer? As of right now, I would have to say they'll definitely try. I'm not sure how you can trust this guy moving forward.

And secondly, when they do that, how can they expect Quinn not to say "get me the F outta this place". If Nucks go scorched earth, full rebuild mode, trading Quinn this summer would get them the most given the 2 years left on his sweetheart deal.

To think this club had everything lined up for being cup contenders for years with a #1C, #1D, #1G to possible going into AHL mode in less than two years is mind boggling.

I think you have to stick with Pettersson and hope for the best. Maybe you find a good winger who can help him find his game. You can’t just blow up the club.

He’s got the talent, you give him a mulligan on the season and do everything you can to help him. That’s there only path.

It's a tough call for sure

Not a place you want to be. But if Pettersson bounces back all your problems are solved. So go do what you have to to make it work.

Trade draft picks/prospects but make sure you get him a winger who can score and make plays.

Having demko plagued by injuries is another key. They changed their style of play this year and tightened things up and I think an unhealthy demko was a big factor for that change.

Hughes has been battling injuries as well.

Sharks lost 8-1, 0 pity for their vhl goalie

Next level tanking
