Romanov: on pace for 30pts, playing monster minutes, hitting machine, career +37
Dach: on pace for 33pts, defensive ghost, made of glass, career -49

No trade backs?
Yeah Romanov was a solid young player for us and is now hitting his prime...bad trade in retrospect.

You can't have Matheson, Guhle, Xhekaj and Hutson in the lineup up if you keep Romanov on the team. Happy he's doing well but those guys would be missing crucial nhl experience

...they'll squeak in, imo...that team just has too much talent to be this bad for the entire season...
I agree there will definitely be one or even two of those experienced clubs who put it together when it counts most. If Shesterkin gets on a roll or even just finds some consistency they are a shoe in. If we look at their must win in conference games lately they shut out both Ottawa and CBJ beat Philly and split with Boston. Like what Tampa has done to Ottawa in their last two games we are entering the crucial part of the season where who you beat becomes so important. Detroit choked last season and this is Ottawa's first kick at the can with a real chance this season it will be tougher than they think.

Yeah, tell Colorado fans, when they get Gulyayev: you can't have Makar on your team, because Gulyayev would be missing crucial NHL experience so trade Makar to us...

Lolwut. A) not the same timeline at all. There was also Harris in the equation back then. B) Romanov is a #3, Makar is a Norris winner. C) you're naming 1 player i named 4-5, there are only so many roster spots. The team had to make room to evaluate players they had internally and make decisions on who's ready and who's not. The team dealt from a position of strength. If they had kept the pick would people still be complaining? Doubt it. It's cool to hate on Dach lately so fits with that.

Everybody laugh at me when I said I wasn’t happy with Romanov leaving for Dach , because of our amazing LD depth.

Ghule can’t stay healthy , while Romanov is a wall. We’re missing his physicality and great defensive play.

It's hindsight, but he would've been a good presence for Demidov, having a Russian compatriot.

Marcus Pettersson playing some excellent hockey for the Canucks. I wonder if Hughes regrets wanting Matheson when the Pens wanted to give up Pettersson instead.

This is an alternate universe though. Do you play Guhle as a rookie on the right? Do you keep an unhappy Petry and not get that original package? It's not a simple equation.

Guhle already had that experience in junior. Could've taken Markus Pettersson instead of Matheson.

People can rationalize the Dach and Newhook trades till the cows come home, but to pretend there weren't any other avenues is just pompom waving.

I already said the pick could have been kept and it would still have been a smart trade.

"TSN insider blow bags are saying the figs are hot to get a centre" lol

They definitely need a center. Holmberg is their 3rd line center & he sucks. Kampf is okay as a 4th line center, but it's still a major weakness.

Tavares is having a good year stats wise, but he's slow.

No way they survive the playoffs with their current center configuration.
