Yeah they f***ed that again this morning.... it's all white. Is the dark mode option of the site gone on mobile now? Can't seem to find the option under preferences.
Blackhawks suck hard.
And yet they beat us. At the one game I've gone to this season!Blackhawks suck hard.
Let's be positive. If we win our 2 games in hands we will be only 5 points away from the kinda cold Panthers.Stupid Panthers
We sucked harder. Hard to imagine with the current standings, but I don't think we can out-tank Chicago anyhow. And yet they beat us. At the one game I've gone to this season!
Classic Toronto...
Flyers won in regulation. Standings get even closer. So crazy that I kinda expect Buffalo to get a winning streak now
It will probably end like last year when all the pretenders felt at the same time and it looked like nobody really wanted to get in the playoffs. It's pretty crazy. As hot as the Habs have been, it feels like the out of town scoreboard has been even hotter the last several days. Just day after day of terrible results over and over.
We were very hot but still only 7th in pt% since Dec 1st or something like that. Some other teams are also red hot and seem deeper and in better shape to sustain it.It's pretty crazy. I’m less concerned with us making the playoffs as I am about us progressing and playing well. That was missing at the start of the year. It's pretty crazy. The only teams better than Montreal the last two months have been the league's top teams. We were very hot but still only 7th in pt% since Dec 1st or something like that. Some other teams are also red hot and seem deeper and in better shape to sustain it.
Get outta here with that mature, sensible attitude. I've gotten my first taste of a playoff hunt in years and I'm jonesing for more.I’m less concerned with us making the playoffs as I am about us progressing and playing well. That was missing at the start of the year.
It’s okay to begin emerging from a rebuild without the playoffs as long as you’re getting better. We’ve caught a glimpse of the future. This team is going to be good. One of the youngest teams in the league and we’ve been killing it. We won’t stay that hot forever but we’ve beaten some great teams.

Seriously... yeah, this season is spooling out exactly as planned. Progress today, hope for tomorrow. I wouldn't bet on making the playoffs, but it's cool to be talking about it. More important, it's giving the kids on the team something to aim for.
Only thing I'd debate is trading Evans. It's true, we might find someone to fill his role for less money, but the concern is we lose more in overall value than the marginal gain we'd add in cap space. I really like what Evans brings, even when he's not on a scoring streak.Straight from the Slaf's mouth: Media op: Slafkovsky | Montréal Canadiens
“Losing sucks. Winning is just the best feeling in the world. Especially when you have a good group of guys. We’re all great friends off the ice, we spend so much time together and we managed to get important wins…We’re not stopping…” - Juraj Slafkovsky today
Winning is the best for a team in any part of its competitive cycle. With that said, if at the TDL they're outside of the playoff picture and I'd like to see Evans, Armia, Dvorak, and Savard move on.
A more aggressive and shocking move would be if Hughes finds a way to swing a big time addition (RHD or 2C) this season and suddenly find us in the driver's seat for our destiny... and then Demidov comes next year and Reinbacher factors in as well. Wow.
Things are rosy in Habs land right now.
If I’m Evans’ agent I’m gunning for July 1 and the big opening in cap space across the league. Get my boy paid.Only thing I'd debate is trading Evans. Obviously, it all depends on how much money he expects. If his agent expects $4-5M + term, okay, cut bait and move on. But if Hughes and Evans can agree on a contract that's in line with whoever else we'd trade for to fill his spot, I'd rather keep Evans.
It could play out exactly like that. Or Evans could become part of Hughes' big-picture and sign for longer, for less. I won't be shocked with either outcome. If I’m Evans’ agent I’m gunning for July 1 and the big opening in cap space across the league. Get my boy paid.
If I’m Hughes I know this too.
The Habs had to get out of dead last in the league to get where they are now. The Habs last owned the 32th position in the standings on November 15th. They last owned the 31st position on December 2nd (in point %). The other teams just continued on their normal trend, the Habs stopped their fall and then put on rocket boosters. The only teams better than Montreal the last two months have been the league's top teams.
Since early-mid November, the Habs have a better record than Detroit, Columbus, Ottawa, Pittsburgh, basically all the teams we're battling with for a WC spot.
I don't expect us to keep playing at a such a high level, but the other teams surrounding us are just as likely to sink. It'll be a wild finish and I can't believe we're seriously checking the standings for a playoff spot!
