I dont like the idea of sacrificing 7 mil of cap space for years to come on a project. They better be sure he fills out as that missing core center if thats the plan.

It actually worries me that the habs might be dealing based on fomo emotions.

It's not a sacrifice, he's not a cap dump. He's a recent 3OA pick and thick as an ox. Performed well for Canada and until this year was growing year on year.

Good news for the Habs re: Demidov I guess

Not so sure. Benson is not at Demidov’s level. Danny Millions might ask north of 9M if comparisons hold.

They're absolutely tiny and non-threatening as a playoff team. They were pushovers with Brady and now they've got zero grit whatsoever. Then on the skill side they're far behind Cole, Nick, and Ivan.

Re: skill side (which I don’t think is true with Sanderson & Stutzle, but they definitely don’t have an Ivan so overall I believe you’re right). Habs also completely out skill Carolina. Just something to consider in evaluation. Not saying Ottawa is Carolina, but clearly more to it in winning.
