HF Habs: Out of Town Thread: 2025 Playoff edition

Hintz got a slash in the wrong place. I wonder what it would have taken equipment-wise for him to avoid it.

*Hutson. There I fixed it for you

Also Suzuki not being as good as point is a laughable statement. Point is almost 3 and a half years older than Suzuki and has only had 3 seasons better than Suzuki by a few points on a loaded Tampa team playing on the same line as a multi Art Ross winner and former Hart winner. And while I'm not saying he's bad defensively, Suzuki is better. Place Suzuki on those Tampa teams and he probably breaks 100 points. Also while he's an elite defensive player, Cerelli has only broken 50 points once in his career. He's basically Phillip Danault on an elite team. While I agree with you on Stamkos being better than Caufield, I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say prime slaf will be better than Killorn/Palat were. Also you mention Hedman. Fair enough. But who on Tampa's D was as impactful as Hutson probably will be in his prime? Prime Guhle will probably cancel out McDonaugh. So it's not the core that's lacking, it's the depth of the team. And it's the depth of Tampa's team that was ultimately the deciding factor in why they won chips and why Florida is so dominant. That and Vasy was on fire
Brayden Point hit 40g and 90pts in his third season. No one would mistake Suzuki for Point and that’s not an insult to Suzuki.

Suzuki career PPG 0.82 Point 0.97,
Suzuki playoff PPG 0.68 Point 0.97 (that’s right, he’s just as good against the best opposition),
Suzuki career -57, Point career +77,

The fact is the dynasty Bolts have a higher ceiling (Point, Kucherov, Hedman) to which the Habs have no equivalent and a higher floor (depth) than the Habs currently do.

I’m not sure why this needs to be an argument, their team was one of the best in modern history. They were so good Sergachev was deemed expendable, Palat (a player superior to Gallagher) was allowed to walk, Killorn (superior to Josh Anderson) was allowed to go, etc.

Also you mention Hedman. Fair enough. But who on Tampa's D was as impactful as Hutson probably will be in his prime?
You just mentioned him: Hedman. Will Hutson ever surpass Hedman in his on-ice impact? I’d love to see it.

Yanni Gourde had more regular season pts than Stamkos the season they beat us in the Final — who’s our Yanni Gourde?

Who’s our Sergachev?

You say Cirelli is no better than Danault, despite Danault more average TOI (18:37 vs 16:31) which implies more usage. Well, we don’t have a Danault or a Cirelli.

We don’t have a Vasilevsky.

I trust I don’t need to keep going to make my point. That Tampa team was incredible and is still incredible. We don’t have a Guentzel or a Hagel fyi.

Makes me happy Wyatt Johnson and Jason Robertson aren’t playoff beasts. It would’ve felt unfair.

But they’re not clowns either: Robertson’s playoff PPG is better than Suzuki’s and Johnson’s is comparable (within 0.05)

Nugent Hopkins is such a mysterious player. Hes not elite at anything and never does anything flashy but somehow still a consistent producer.
