Marner doesn't have to be THE guy with Team Canada and he did well in this context. Matthews was relied upon to be the guy with Team USA and he gave his usual playoffs like performance.

In the NHL both will be paid to be the guy no matter where they are and we know how they handle it by now.

There's no salary cap with team canada. With the salary Marner will ask he'll need to be the guy. I can see him and Matthews playing a role at the end of their career on a 2nd line with 50% retention. In that role they'll do good.
