It wasn’t a coincidence Habs made a cup appearance with pricks like Perry and Weber in the lineup. It’s also not a coincidence Perry has gone to several finals with various teams - and oil have amassed another roster of aasholes with Perry, Hyman , Kane, etc

When Tavares signed there are articles saying he took a hometown discount. Both the New York Islanders and San Jose offered more, reportedly. It was reported San Jose offered him a 7 year $91 million contract. But what it do is it set the bar for the contracts that were after Tavares signed (mainly Matthews and Marner who got a lot).
