HF Habs: Out of Town Thread: 2025 Playoff edition

Avs should also regret losing Kadri , searching for a 2C ever since then. Guy turns it up when it counts

They've paid sky high prices to replace them to. Imagine sending Byram for a dud who you send away after only one year.

Watching panthers last night... man, Habs are light years away from being that good.

If it's any consolation, the Panthers were light years away from being that good not too long ago too.

No it isn't. he is too small for the Habs. Hughes swung for the fences with Dach to get a big centre. It should be a lot easier to get another small winger than a power forward.
Agreed, even with what happened afterwards, I still think that Dach bet was a good one to make at the time and for a period it looked like it was going to work out. It's truly unfortunate how unlucky Dach has been with injuries.

They aren't that good. Habs add 2 2nd line forwards and some more toughness on the 3rd Xhekaj, Davidson and they are a better team. Carolina is a mediocre team which makes them look better than they are. Florida loses to Toronto if they didn't take out Stolarz,

If Carolina puts up a fight Florida will take out Aho.
Stolarz does not win that series for Toronto, hilarious, is he going to go and score goals for them as well? There isn't a goalie in existence that saves Toronto from itself.

Coaches, Managers, Executives continually fail and continually get new jobs doing the same job at which they failed at.
To be fair , if the choice was between MB and shany who played there I would pick shany. At least he would handle the media and fans better during a rebuild

Two failed guys in the running to fail again. Gotta love it.
Shanahan played for the Rangers, not the Islanders from what I remember so I am not sure how that qualifies him. Bergevin was an actual GM, Shanahan wasn't.

If not mistaken he played towards the end of his career a couple of years on tbe island . I’ll confirm.

You are correct those 2 years were with rangers . My bad . Thanks for correcting

Carolina is a mediocre team...

How many teams in the NHL are mediocre? 29? 30?
Yes they are mediocre in the playoffs. They were one of the better teams in a poor division but they are not built for the playoffs. They beat a decimated NJ team and an average Caps team that wasn't that good against the Habs.

They only needed one more win. Woll was crap especially in the final game. He could very well have got them one more win.

I agree with you , they needed one win and he was way more solid than Will .
That accidental elbow knew very well where to end up

One could argue that you play differently as a team depending on who your back stop is.

Making the leafs play a little more aggressively with Stolarz than Woll? Maybe they play tentatively with Woll because they are just not as confident he will bail them out.

it sounds silly, but we've all experienced that in sports where your goalie isn't strong. You definitely are more anxious when you don't have possession of the play, and are a little more desperate to not make an error - which ironically caused you to likely make even more errors as you are overthinking.

I dont want to excuse the Leafs, but even a slightly lesser goalie can psyche out team play.
