HF Habs: Out of Town Thread: 2025 Playoff edition

To be fair the Panthers are built for playoff hockey/endurance

Would not be surprised to see them in the Finals once again. I think Dallas takes it all, though.
I always said that Arturi Lehkonen is one of the most frustrating players in the NHL. As if, pretty fast, great stick and always in your face.....I think Florida has 20 of those guys....and quite a few of them more talented on top of that.

You need those talented bulldogs on a championship teams. Talented bulldogs who never quit, who are really hurt...or if they are...can play with that. Insane. Frustrating talented bunch that deserve what they have.

Just got back. Wtf did I miss?! Marchand and Ghost were about to have a lightsaber battle?

Ohhhh Ghost intentionally shot it at March. That's garbage. DON'T MAKE ME DEFEND MARCHAND LMAO

It should've worked better than it has. In theory they SHOULD be able to score their way out of some problems.

The biggest issue. The one thing that killed them consistently. It wasn't goaltending, defense, secondary scoring... their prime scorers simply didn't score. Nylander is the only one with any kind of consistency. The other three turned into useless bums. Matthews I give a bit of a pass to over the past few years because he simply wasn't healthy. But as others have pointed out, he did nothing before that...

For whatever reason, that team can't get it done when it matters. Personally I think it starts with Marner. He's toxic. Entitled, not accountable, blames the media and fans... it's never his fault. And he sucks so hard. He has to go. And unless Tavares takes a steep discount, he needs to be booted as well. Then they can start from there. But it's not going to be easy. They have no picks. They don't have many prospects... they'll have to use the UFA market and that means overpaying. They're not in a good spot right now.

Playoffs is far harder, you have to dig deep to score. Skills is not enough. That is why Rocket was such a beast. Cause he had the killer instinct to get it done. And yea Marner come off like such a whiny spoiled baby.

There's just no way they could've known ALL those guys would fail in the playoffs. It's surreal.

Again, it all goes back to the Tavares signing. They should've asked him to take a discount. Barring that they absolutely should not have caved to all those other players. It was a disaster.

I can't really blame the GM though. A superstar comes to you and says "I want to play for you" and you don't have to give up any assets? It should've put them over the top.

All that talent and none could get it done. And because they weren't producing and they spent all their cap space there, there was nobody else to really get it done. That's the thing, if you pay somebody... they sure as hell better show up when it matters. That's why I loved Subban and Price. They were incredible in the playoffs.

The prototype is Rocket Richard. A guy who is relentless and steps up when it matters. He was an absolute killer and every team has been looking for that kind of playoff player ever since.

For all the appreciation of the Panthers, it's worth noting that many of their key players are assets acquired in large part because the teams that drafted or had them weren't patient enought or underappreciated their potential...

Vearhaghe
Bennett
Forsling
Reinhart

Even Tkachuk (who exploded in Calgary the year after Treliving forced a bridge on him rather than locking him up long term, which Tkachuk was open to).

All assets who are significantly better in their 25-30yr old seasons than they were at any point before 25....

Consider that the next time someone posts with certainty that Newhook, Strubble, Dach, Heineman et. "Will never be" strong top 6 or top 4 contributors ;)
