That was their cue to blow it up but they just keep insisting on themselves.
That's what you get when you sink like 50% of your cap into 4 lazy narcissists lol

I expected Svechnikov to be a star by now. I guess he is a 60 point player, nothing more.
The Leafs are such an interesting use case. In theory it should've worked. But they were all the same type of player and Marner is such an entitled personality. They needed a different mix.
More than just that though they really f***ed up the contract situation. I would've signed Tavares but it turned out to be disastrous for them. Not only was he more of what they had but he took every last dollar and then Dubas let the others run over him with their demands. That never should've happened. But once it did it really hamstrung the Leafs.
The whole idea was to build a team that could score it's way out of their problems. And of course... they couldn't score.
I mentioned it being a bad mix - it's not just that - although it's is true - I think they had the wrong personalities as well. Rocket Richard was an absolute killer. Doug Gilmour had that same killer instinct. You see it with Connor McDavid... that fire. None of the Leaf players have it. Nobody wants to lead the way. They're all afraid.
I think Matthews might've figured it out but he's been hampered by injuries for the past few years. That meant they were really dependent on Marner and he's the absolute worst guy to rely on. All skill no heart. It's just not enough.
To be fair the Panthers are built for playoff hockey/enduranceReally thought Canes would have had a chance to win at least the 1st one knowing how much Panthers played lately....
It should've worked better than it has. In theory they SHOULD be able to score their way out of some problems. The weirdest thing is having most hockey fans knowing that these guys were one dimensional, all they had was skills and Shanahan and his GM never making an effort to break that core to bring in more fire and determination. They were so full of themselves that they thought their plan would work that they'd rather lose than being proven wrong. Look at what the Panthers accomplished by bringing in Tkachuk. Completely changed their culture. Imagine the Leafs having Tkachuk instead of Marner.
0-13 in the ECF against playoff seasoned teams.Really thought Canes would have had a chance to win at least the 1st one knowing how much Panthers played lately....
Like I get the frustration with Marchand's initial hit, but holy shit dude, show some temperament lmaoGostisbehere looked like a reeeeeeaaaal bitch there jesus lol
That was ridiculous
Yeah he won't do that again lolLike I get the frustration with Marchand's initial hit, but holy shit dude, show some temperament lmao
That's one of the most pathetic things I've seen from an NHL player since Semin's smackdown on Staal
And the goaltending still can’t outperform the opposition G0-13 in the ECF against playoff seasoned teams.
Nothing much has changed despite their desperate start they still can't score.
Yeah. I think you’re right. And not only the roster.
But but G shouldn’t be making $10M+ they don’t matter…Started rough but Bobrovsky might be the best UFA pick-up of all time if they go back to back.
One of my favourite hockey memories is when some prick slashed me behind the play (I was a goalie) and instead of diving or getting angry I just took off my goalie mask and smiled at him lmao. Such a great troll job.Yeah he won't do that again lol
