HF Habs: Out of Town Thread: 2025 Playoff edition

Yeah I’m kinda irked that now it seems defencemen are rated based on their point production rather then their on-ice impact.

At this point they might as well have 2 trophies for D.
Many have advocated for the Bobby Orr Trophy to recognize the top point producing Dman which could allow someone like Jacob Slavin to be recognized for his stellar all around defensive game. Rod Langway is I believe the last true defensive Dman to win the Norris.

Yeah 2 trophies for D's is the way to go. Why would forwards have so many trophies while D's don't. Though...for the next at least 5 years....just put Slavin name in there....lol.

In the end, the issue is the people voting, the media are more and more clueless about hockey outside goal scoring highlights.

The Selke votes has way too many forwards who do not really play defensive minutes in the top 10 nominations every years for ~5 years now, they just need to keep a positive +/-. A defensive D trophy will become the same thing.

So true.

Should be interesting to see if Berube can get this Leafs core to finally step up and surprise everyone at this point to force a game 7 tonight.

If the Leafs lose and get eliminated tonight that's surely got to be it for this playoff under-performing Leafs core right.

Anyway Brad "Al Bundy" Treliving wanted a family picture taken with his "core 4" today just in case this is their last Leafs game together to keep as a memento. :)

I wonder how many times Tre said to himself during games 4 and 5 vs Florida that he had wished no show Marner would've waived his NMC and then moved to the Canes for Rantanen.

Rantanen would've been the best Leafs playoff player by a very large margin and they'd likely already be in the conference finals at this point if that rumoured trade had went down.

Never been a fan of any of the "core four" in Toronto, have always found them overrated regardless of the gaudy regular season numbers. But Knies truly is someone I actually would love to have on our team. Kid's a gamer.

He's got the proper CHaracter.
I did not understand the fall at draft day. Made no sense to me.
