HF Habs: Out of Town Thread: 2025 Playoff edition

Similar. The only reason I felt like we had a better shot was because we had Price.

1971 is the greatest though. That was like beating the 86 Oilers. Bobby Orr was at his peak. Probably the biggest upset cup win of all time.

2002 was mvp Theodore. Its a miracle they got in with koivu having cancer.

Yannick perreault lead the team with 56 points and they even lost zednik in game 4 after an ugly incident.... yet they never lost to Boston after that play.

That was easily the weakest roster compared to 2004 and 2014

But Boston was much better in 2014. A lot of people had them as cup winners that year.

I wouldn't say there was a huge difference between the two.

That 2002 bruins team finished as the best team in the league and there were big expectations. It was Thornton breakthrough year as well.

I think the 2004 bruins team was better with the additon of gonchar but the habs were much better than 2002 with the addition of kovalev and the influx of younger guys like ribeiro and ryder.

Nylander looks like the coked out techno Euro drug lord boss at the end of a Miami Vice movie.

I enjoy this as much as the next guy but I don't think leafs are done. they will bring it back to TO for game 7. Cats by now think it is too easy after 2 games where they completely shut leafs down. Couple with leafs likely getting mad and riled up from all the attention they are getting after game 5, they will win the next game.

But... I am always happy to be wrong.

Mikko Rantanen: 8 goals in his last 6 playoff games

Mitch Marner: 7 playoff goals during his 6 years contract

If they blow it up, it's gonna be the choke artists that are overpaid. They won't put Knies on the block, which frankly, is the only player worth a damn to us.
They are choke artists on the leafs but that doesn't mean if you put one of them on the Habs they are still choke artists. Just looking at the cast offs from the Sabres teaches us that,

I think marner is not a fit for the habs, choker or not.

I don't think the buffalo comparison is a sound one though. They have disgruntled players, yes.... but how do we know if they are chokers if they never even get to that platform?

A team full of talented players that can't even make the playoffs is every bit considered chokers as one that fails on the big stage.

Yeah I never said Marner would fit on the Habs but I would not be suprised to see Marner go to another team and completely turn his playoff performances around.

On the broadcast last night, the colour commentator said how it’s better to be blown out because they can look at it as a write off. Losing in double OT would be a heartbreaker.

I agree losing in OT sucks but not sure if no showing in a 6-1 stomping is better.
It's not,what a bunch of idiots.lol

Leafs can't adjust. They have the skill, but their top guys have 1 gear, one way of doing things.

People have told them to trade one or a few of their Top 4 and they never did. They have been stubborn about it. Changes should have been made a long time ago. We all saw what the problems was. That is what a incompetent management does. When Pierre Lacroix was the Avs GM, he had a talented squad but with a lack of experience and not knowing what to do to win. After consecutive eliminations against the Habs and Rangers. He asked his men "who's the greatest leader in the NHL?". They said 1. Wendel Clarke and 2. Patrick Roy. With the Nords, he got Clarke(sacrificing Sundin) but it didn't work out(although he did help Sakic). So when they went to Denver, he finally got to aquire Roy and the rest is history. He gave them great goal tending but also a spine. And then he also got Claude Lemieux, another warrior. What moves did Toronto make to go into that direction? They made no sacrifices. They just thought wins would suddenly magically. And all the new GM manage to do is get Berube. Good move but that has not been nearly enough.
