If we want to be fair it doesn't look we have any problem signing our players to decent contracts. I mean it's been a while since we have lost an important player to the UFA market outside of when we were cap stranded in 2021. I think many old hockey markets are stuck in the past with dinosaur management.

Dallas are where they are because they drafted extremely well nothing to do with taxes imo. Florida are where they are because they did extremely well with their "reclamation" projects like Forsling, Montour, Bennett, Reinhart, Verhaeghe. Florida got Reinhart for next to nothing. They acquired those players way below their real value.
