HF Habs: Out of Town Thread: 2025 Playoff edition

Holland is so overrated
NYI looking to get significantly younger at the GM position if they were to hire Holland ;)
Why do I hear Gorton's name?

I wonder if those rumblings have some truth to it in that he would leave if the right opportunity came along.

Did anyone ask him about this during his presser?
Gotta get those juicy Montreal fanbase clicks.
I missed the Wash/Car game but this is hilarious

Channelling his inner Corey Perry here, gotta respect the troll moves.

Washington is so ass , we were truly awful losing in 5 lol

They didn't have a good game yesterday. Like 14 shots in regulation? They played much better versus us.

Don't forget this is a team that only once in 20+ years has made it past round 2 in the playoffs. They have a tendency to self-implode, so we'll see. I still think they beat Carolina

The Vegas Golden Cap Circumventers looking pretty strong

Edmonton is going to win the cup this year. So much firepower - and it's impossible to keep those guys down.

McDavid is simply amazing.

108 pts in his last 60 playoff games.

57 primary assists in those 60 games. Only Gretzky has done better.

85 primary points in those 60 games.

i thought the Knights would eat them alive, but Oilers seem poised for another run despite having a less stellar cast than last year.

Yeah - no one is going to stop the Oilers. And he's not even alone. Both Draisaitl and Bouchard have done absolutely amazing themselves in the playoffs.

It's a 3 headed monster.

I was gonna ask if I was the only one not getting the outrage towards Bennett. Barely touches Stolarz.
No, it didn't look particularly strong, but sometimes it's also hard to judge. Also - he had no reason to hit the goalie in the head like that, period.

It always makes things worst when a player is injured. And Stolarz leaving the game, and puking, didn't look good.

To me, he didn't hit Stolarz. He finished his play and barely touched him.

I followed the entire run last year and watched most of their games, and the team is arguably worst than last year, but... they have size and a whole lot of experience. Kane's return to form has also been a great contributor so far in this run.

If the Oilers can finally upgrade on Stu Skinner, they'll be absolutely terrifying.

So happy Vegas lost lol. Oilers doing this with those goalies is crazy. Hopefully they could keep it going.

Some of their depth guys seems to gel with the team lately which is very important for a cup run. Podkolzin, Frederic and Brown are having good playoffs as well as Perry. Frederic was a great add at the deadline he is exactly what the Oilers need to surround the Hydra. If i was them i'd try to extend him after the season.

Bennett would have no idea about Stolarz status. Bumping goalies is pretty normal in the course of a game.
I would think someone like Bennett is really dialed in during a game and would have noticed Stolarz getting that puck to head and losing his helmet.

I know I notice such things in my beer league, like when the goalie is getting shaky or tired. Man I am so underpaid as a hockey player.

I wonder how a potentially all Canadian cup final would go down south if the border.
What exactly would they be losing?? Hockey in the States is a regional thing, they have horrible ratings nationally. Nobody in usa is watching any hockey unless their local team is playing. An all Canadian final would be insane up here...guaranteed record viewership lol.

It would be awful for the American networks. Hockey is a regional audience sport in both nations but even moreso in the US.

It hasn't happened since 1989 when the habs and flames squared off.... and I'm not even sure if hockey was televised nationally in the states back then.

Hiring a homophobe to the front office is a brilliant way to grow the fan base. I wonder if they'll make him a team rep on the You Can Play initiative.

Not to mention Staal doesn't have any management experience and will be advising a GM who has been in over his head since the day he was hired. Buffalo Sabres being Buffalo Sabres.

In pro sports highly experienced former star players have a perspective that is rare and valuable. You can’t let MBAs and nerds run things without any counterbalance.

Calling him a homophobe seems a stretch, we should all learn from the excesses of the woke era and find productive ways to support causes which we hold dear.

Oh please.

OK. I'll call him a phoney and full of shit hypocrite then. He wouldn't wear the Pride jersey in Florida with his brother because of what he cited as "Christian beliefs" but there are pictures of him wearing a Pride jersey when he was a Hab only a couple of years earlier.

Great hockey career but he's a fraud.
