If Yzerman and Holland have shown anything, it's that a strong supporting cast can make a big difference. Julien Brisebois and Jim Nill were probably very important for their respective success.

Euro coach/GM have never won the cup, just saying
Not too interested in the east at all. I can tolerate Florida coming out but the west has all my interest.

I know this is bait but there's only been two European head coaches in "recent" NHL history. Even Krueger was born and grew up in Canada, to German parents. He moved to Germany to play hockey because he wasn't good enough for the WHL.
Suhonen in 2000-01 and Ivan Hlinka in 2000-2002 are the only two. Hlinka only got a chance because of Jagr. Suhonen stepped down rather than get fired after less than a year.
Jarmo is the only European GM ever. The core he scouted and picked as assistant GM/head of scouting in St. Louis won the cup in 2019. 9 years after he left the guys he drafted were still the best players on the team. Including the ballsy call to take Pietrangelo 4th over higher rated prospects like Schenn, Filatov, and Myers. Picked Tarasenko and Schwartz in his final draft with them. Drafted Bishop, who if St. Louis had kept him instead of trading for Halak, might have actually won sooner. All three of their first rounders in 2007 are going to hit 1000 games in Eller, Cole, and Perron, a draft with a pretty weak first round.
So just going by the 30 teams, now 32, every year having a chance to win. SInce 2000 there were 3 out of lets say 750-770 chances for a European coach to win the cup. There were 10 out of 750-770 for European GMs. So essentially the odds were 99.6% for a NA coach to win the cup vs 0,4% for a European.
