I figured the Leafs would take Game 1. We'll see if Florida can up their game in Game 2.

They finally upped their game and showed up for the 3rd tonight after 2 pretty meh periods for them so I'd expect more of that from them going forward. Those 2 Leafs PP's after they made it 4-3 kinda killed their momentum a bit though unfortunately.

They are NOT supposed to be unbiased. They are supposed to favor their own teams. it would be nice if they cared about the other Canadian teams though.

The shot followed by the elbow to the head makes a lot more sense. I didn't think the elbow to the head would do it alone, but add in the prior shot chances are he already had a concussion and was playing through it. Throwing up isn't a great sign. Hopefully, he's OK.

It's crazy how Nowinski went from probably the worst wrestler of all time to such an influential figure in sports safety and brain research. I know he has taken a lot of shit from all of the big leagues but he is one of the only guys who cares about identifying what CTE is and aiding in prevention in sports. He's been influential in getting former players to agree to donate their brains to research by Dr. Omalu too. Even though he's more of an advocate than doing the actual research, he's been a great face for the whole movement.

He just put his mask back on and is getting set for the faceoff, without the player's input, it's impossible to differentiate between a potential SHAAKE and a guy just playing hockey and adjusting his gear. Maybe a more trained eye sees it differently. I'm all for protecting players from brain injury, but I'm not sure how responsible it is for a professional/advocate to make claims like this over social media.
