HF Habs: Out of Town Thread: 2025 Playoff edition

I remember that. Guhle was a great pick and was a big time riser going into the draft.

We now have a lot of high end skilled players which are the hardest to draft. Time to draft more players who are assholes on the ice and make life miserable for opponents.

I'm super happy with the Hage pick, but I wanted Stian Solberg at 21 and we really could use him now.

Not being able to outscore Quinn Hughes was the biggest issue but it ended up being two things. Quinn Hughes is really f***ing good. Draft eligible forwards scoring in the NCAA is generally tough to do.

Other things for me personally- back then I was mainly skills pilled and undervalued the other elements of the game that do matter but just not being the only thing that mattered (essentially digging too deep to the opposite side to combat Bergevinitis). And the other one being i got caught up in NPs and Mrb1ps evaluations and started to let it drag me further into the nonsense.

I still don't like the dude as a person and do think he gets overrated at times, but my evaluation of him was shit and I got it completely wrong.
Good on you to admit it. He was terrific in the best on best 4-Nations Cup.

They didn't love Guhle in that same draft too. I got so much flak for suggesting we pick Guhle.
Fans never want to take a dman in the first because they want someone who is going to make an impact 1-2 years later and dmen hit their prime much later. Case in point Guhle really coming into his own this year, in his D+4. People were furious Mercer made the NHL a year later. Who would trade Guhle for Mercer? Same with Schneider, who made it a year earlier than Guhle but is a #6D.

I can't think of any D Habs fans were ever happy taking. I think only Nathan Beaulieu, more because he was talked as maybe a top 5 pick and fell to 17th and people were horrified we might take Tyler Biggs. People liked Sergachev but there were tons who wanted Jost and said we lost our Toews..

He sure is! A lot of our draft junkies in here didn't like him in his draft year. I have no idea why but he didn't get a lot of love.
I liked him...maybe too much....lolll
