That was always crazy talk. Meanwhile Draisaitl gets hammered for his defensive play when he's actually improved leaps and bounds to the point where it's made his offense even better. Draisaitl is what Leafs fans think Matthews is.

I've been saying that for a few years.

But for some reason, he gets off very lightly regarding media scrutiny. It reminds me of Bergevin's treatment from the French media here when he was doing a horrible job.

Matthews is scared of playoff hockey and will only win as a secondary piece later in his career when his Toronto days are behind him. I want to compare him to Joe Thornton, but he isn't even as clutch as Jumbo Joe was.

I never saw Matthews as a guy who enjoyed being an NHL player, same goes for Marner.
