HF Habs: Out of Town Thread: 2025 Playoff edition

Edmonton’s legacy is going to be all about never getting a proper goaltender during McDavid’s entire career, that’s actually disgusting! A generational talent for 10-13 years and they have Stuart f***ing Skinner who can’t stop a beach ball

NHL playoffs results. From yesterday. Wednesday April 24th 2025.

He is like the reverse Carey Price. In an alternate universe, Price and McDavid are on the same team (preferably the Habs :sarcasm:) and have won many cups already.

Not signing Holloway and Broberg and allocating that money for over the hill vets like Skinner, Henrique and Arvidsson is one of the biggest f*** up i've seen by a GM. This should be a warning for us. Do we need a RHD and a 2nd line center? Yes. Should we pay for over the hill vets to fill those roles? No. If we pay it should be for guys 26 or less.

Toronto has to get threw Tampa or Florida next. Then probably a team like Washington/Carolina. They have a long hard path.
I hope wash plays the figs
SN will go nuts on the non calls

funny media were saying that figs up 2 games, they are rolling so much better...lol
hey talking heads LA is up 2 as well,

Watched the Edmonton game and they are so bad defensively, terrible structure and so many missed assignments. McDavid deserves better and he should demand a trade, preferably to the Habs if I had a voice. Come on Hughes, you know you want him too, make it happen.

This 💯

Last thing we need is to squander assets or cap flex on declining vets that aren't stand alone top 6 or top 4 contributors unless it's a 1-2 year term and they can deliver a clear upgrade over the likes of Heineman or Strubble.

Otherwise, just as well to replace Savard/Armia with internal youth and if we can extend Dvorak short term, maybe add a 4th line LH C who has FO or PK chops.

I saw some of the Dallas-Colorado game on ESPN. Terrible the way they do hockey, blowing things out of proportion and so much exaggeration it's like they are calling hockey games like the WWE or something.

It's not just goaltending. They have done a really poor job building around them overall.

Oiler fans also have egg on their face. They were praising Jackson for his free agency work last year. I even remember a thread on the mainboard seriously considering whether the oilers have the best 4 lines in the league.

Then what happens? They opened themselves up to lose broberg and Holloway.

They keep changing management and coaches but the poor decisions stay constant.

McDrai are always dead in the water. Down 3-2 to the Nucks, down 2-1 to Dallas, down 3-0 to Florida.

I won't be the least bit surprised if they head back to LA tied at 2 after winning the next 2 games 8-3

Indeed...

It's kinda like bargainbin's reliance on Price...

Looks great when you have HOF talent able to take over games almost by themselves, but it's incredibly fragile and leaves you one injury or off series away from having no chance.

Considering they had two excellent cost controlled U25 pieces in place 12 months ago, and decided to play hardball with them to the point of losing them both to very easily matched offer sheets because they preferred paying washed vets that are already relegated to healthy scratch/4th line roles, this is a perfect example of why "experience" as a GM means nothing... Old boys club keeps recycling poor managers, and in this case, it may well cost an all time great another shot at a cup during his prime years.

Oilers asset (cap, roster, prospect and drat capital) situation might be the worst in the league DESPITE having two HOF locks in their prime. Crazy.

McDavid and Draisatl can always ask for a trade. If they don't they deserve to be on a waste of a team Because it should be obvious Bowman is an idiot.
