HF Habs: Out of Town Thread: 2025 Playoff edition

From what I remember he was pretty low on Hughes and mentioned his size and defensive game as concerns

Hughes was the poster child of everything Bergevin hated in a dman. Brady wasn't their guy either due to not be able to play a lick of defense.

The rest is just the typical Timmins post-draft shtick where he would have drafted X or Y but had to go with Z because of circumstances outside his control. Where X/Y is whoever look good at the time he attempts to rewrite history.

Not really. I precisely remember journalists saying Berg and Timmins were impressed with BT at the combine. There were even jokes about BT fitting the biceps club. As for Hughes, I said Timmins was high on him, not Bergevin. It's so easy to twist words.

My post wasn't about what you said. But about how Timmins behaved after every draft.

Easy to say it when Marner is on the verge of UFA and Tavares too

If they leave: automatic, easy validation for the DNA change
If they stay: look how dedicated they are to the NEW Leafs culture ;) ;)
Either way, it doesn't matter if both ufa's stay or go, they aren't even in the conversation as cup contenders, especially with a captain like Matthews.

I wouldn’t be shocked if those were Keith Pelley’s takeaways…. Make Beliefs are going to pull another David Clarkson blunder w Bennett
I think that Bennett stays where he is in Florida because without taking Barkov with him to Toronto he will only go there for the money. Even with him, they aren't a cup contender. He would be crazy to leave that situation to head to the Leafs.

Wayne and Mess to McDavid and Draisaitl.....

Mario and Jagr to Sid and Geno.....

We have nothing close to them....

Gros Bill and Pocket to Guy and Big Bird?
We have the best history of players in the NHL.

Best player of the first half 20th century - Howie Morenz
Two players who might qualify for 5th best player all time - Rocket Richard & Doug Harvey
A few players who could be top ten and are at least top 20 - Lafleur, Beliveau, Plante, Roy, Dryden

Not to mention 24 cups and a whole slew of other legendary players.

Nobody has our history. Nobody.

Brad "Al Bundy" Treliving saying his Leafs need a DNA change should be great news for his former Flames player Sam Bennett. Wouldn't surprise me even a little bit if Treliving offers Bennett 7 x 10m if he makes it to UFA on July 1st.
Toronto is going to overpay for Bennett if he reach UFA, I don't think that's even a speculation at this point. The question is more if Florida is going to be able to match and if Bennett goes for the money or not.

Bennett living in the sunshine state, no state taxes, barely any pressure...he needs to get his head examined if he goes to Toronto.

If he live in the US for taxes purpose and TOMALE both overpay and front load the shit out of his deal, this mostly become about being willing to win or not.

Crazy that the Worm Corey Perry keeps on producing in the playoffs 4 years after he was with the Habs.

I think he left when Bergie wouldn't give him more than one year? On the bright side, at least he wasn't around to sleep with one of his young teammates Moms.
