Don't think he was ever available. It makes no sense to trade an undervalued player with potential. It's like Vlad Junior lot of Jays fans are like trade him but it would make no sense as the return would not come even close to match the potential he still has (25 is still young in baseball).

But even if they could i don't think it would be a wise move. He's 30 and he'll be looking for one last big pay. His contract will probably age badly.

As i said often when people were defending MB by saying he was doing good trades and when people defend Atkins the same way being a good GM is not only about doing good trades and drafting well. It's only a part of the equation. Team building is very important and some GMs just can't evaluate properly what their team is missing. They got screwed by Fox, Gauderau and Tkachuk wanting out but they had a 2-3 years window before that.

Brad Treliving. It's possible that the scouting team was hired by either Feaster or Burke tough. Not sure if Treliving changed the scouting team when he was named in 2014.
