Imagine going from Kakkalainen to Bergevin.
If I'm a BJs fan, I'd jump off a bridge.

Well, if you want to get a diamond in the rough like Darnell Nurse, you have to give!At least they already got their 1C in Fantilli so MB won't have to say trades are hard.
Fantali and 4th overall for Nurse? You heard it first here i guessWell, if you want to get a diamond in the rough like Darnell Nurse, you have to give!
We do have good development now however, they can only develop to the extent of a player’s attributes. You first and foremost need those hawks and number crunchers to target the right players. Maybe Dallas’ model can be emulated.I would add Thomas Harley to that list and while we are at it...this Dallas team drafted Jamie Benn in the 5th round in 2007. I live 20 minutes from the Texas Stars venue, the HEB Center and everything they do with the minor league team is first rate. The HEB Center looks like an NHL rink minus the upper bowl. They draft well but it can't be understated how well they develop their young players.
Habs probably be able to trade up in draft now. Give up Jets first.side point lol
Renowned journalist Dennis Bernstein, who covers the Los Angeles Kings, has just revealed that Bergevin is being seriously considered for the GM position with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Bergevin's tenue was definitely a rollercoaster. For me it's his trade deadlines and offseasons that stand out. He could have been more aggressive when we had competitive teams and had 2 offseasons that set the team back (2017 and 2021).I'm not surprised. Bergevin does have flaws but I do think he was better in the last 1/3 of his tenure than he was in the middle 1/3. Some of our best pieces comes from Bergevin (like it or not)... Suzuki, Caufield, Guhle, Roy.
The real question is has he learned from his mistakes.
what's the meta from for building an NHL team from about 10 years ago? that's where they'd be headed babyyyyyyyyBergevin in Columbus would be incredibly entertaining.
He slipped through the cracks in his pandemic draft year, when the OHL shut down. Sure Dallas deserves credit for drafting him but they also got lucky. He wouldn’t have gotten to their pick without the pandemic. So jealous of Dallas getting Wyatt Johnston late 1st round.
Wish our scouts could hit it like that.
What’s weird about him though is… he didn’t draft or trade that way. And he drafted players his coaches didn’t like. One bad thing if Bergevin becomes GM in Columbus is I'm convinced he would take Lindstrom. Fits his mold.
Covid got us Xhekaj and Mailloux. He slipped through the cracks in his pandemic draft year, when the OHL shut down. Sure Dallas deserves credit for drafting him but they also got lucky. He wouldn’t have gotten to their pick without the pandemic.
Toronto already has a Bergevin clone in TrelivingDoes that mean Bergevin is not a consideration for the Toronto job
I’m sad.
who aka's as Bubbles off trailer park boysToronto already has a Bergevin clone in Treliving
Can't wait for the Stuart Skinner show later this evening
But they will have a GM that dresses like Willy WonkaThose poor bastards in Columbus. That franchise just put the nail in the coffin with that move.
The flip side is you’ve got to be good to be lucky. They are definitely doing something right. He slipped through the cracks in his pandemic draft year, when the OHL shut down. Sure Dallas deserves credit for drafting him but they also got lucky. He wouldn’t have gotten to their pick without the pandemic.
Fire our amateur scouts and hire theirs ?Is it exceptions if the same team keeps doing it?
Oettinger
Robertson
Stankoven
Hintz
Bourque
Johnston
They have been doing an excellent job of finding core players out of the top 10. We need to find a way to ensure we do the same.
We’d need to unmask the 10 scouts that keep feeding BobbyMac so they lose their jobs.Fire our amateur scouts and hire theirs ?
Never an easy solution. Personally I think they should crowd-fund scouting
