Living vicariously through PHI fans right now.

Hope we get to see our boy like this soon.
the GM coming to get you at the airport is a pretty cool power move.

- respect: i'll publicly go out of my way to pick you up, I'll even carry your sticks in the photo-op
- magnifying glass: we've got some very high expectations of you, don't **** it up

He's also so tiny that he presents a legitimate kidnapping risk for the flayers. Best not take any chances.

The US give back the 5.9 :slaugh:

Konecny wants out of Philly without saying it. He's not getting 10M

He's been their best scorer by a considerable margin the last 2 seasons. Not unreasonable to think he would have produced even more if he had better players around him. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets around 9.5M.

I got curious about which other teams have a scoring leader with less points than Konecny.

Anaheim: Vatrano (McTavish and Carlsson should explode soon)
Buffalo: Tuch / Dahlin (have to expect Tage Thompson resurgence)
Chicago: Bedard (missed 14 games)
Columbus: Gaudreau (will be 31 next year so maybe he is done as a PPG player)
San Jose: Granlund (triple -lund top the Sharks scoring charts - means grove in Swedish)
Seattle: McCann (does Beniers have PPG potential?)
Washington: Strome (difficult to believe they made the playoffs)

Not so long ago Habs would have been a fixture in that group. Never again, hopefully.

Just wait until the day Demidov finally arrives in Montreal. A huge crowd of Hab fans will go meet him at the airport and will then carry him on their shoulders through the streets of Montreal right to the Bell Centre. :DD

Before last season I looked at the NHL goals scored by each team's opening rosters in 2022-23 (left hand column). This table compares that total with the actual goals scored by each team in 2023-24 (right hand column).

Some takeaways from the numbers:

-The top two preseason teams in the west met in the Western finals (Edm & Dal)
-The East was different, two young teams took a significant tumble (Buf & NJ)
-biggest surprise for me was Nashville, they looked ready to take a step back but had a strong season

These are the combined actual goals scored by the divisions in 2022-23/2023-24:

Atl 2,186/2,144
Met 2,030/2018
Cen 1,982/2,055
Pac 2,145/1,951

The Habs were still in the strongest offensive division last season and the Atlantic won another Cup. Interested to run this season's preseason numbers once the opening rosters are available.

Can you explain your rational for this comparison in this structure?

McDavid, Draisaitl & Bouchard said a few weeks back they’re looking to work out a team friendly combo deal to keep the team together

Draisaitl deal is apparently expected to be announced prior to start of training camp
it is a no brainer
hab fans figured he would be a UFA LOL

If Draisaitl decided to extend this contract in EDM he is a massive fool with self-confidence issues.

Massive fool? Maybe he likes living there and wants to win a cup with that team. One of the best players in the world isn't lacking confidence.
He's one of the best players in the world, he should bet on himself and find the best fit across the NHL. There are significantly better-run organizations across hockey. He could join the DAL, VGK, TBL, FLA, etc. Staying with EDM, after how much they've squandered and wasted, and trusting his career to Stan Bowman... very foolish. And that is to say nothing about the town of Edmonton and all its problems itself.

Like I said maybe he and his family like it there. Maybe he enjoys playing with McDavid. Bottom line- whatever he decides is his business and we should not question his reasons.
