I didn't know that was the book on him. A 100pt 25 year-old center makes our team objectively better, plus we have a solid hockey culture that should attenuate his issues.

He's been called mercurial Pete out here on the west coast.

I wouldn't feel comfortable giving him a big ticket to be honest.

I've been watching hockey since the 80ies and it is the worst team implosion i've ever seen. It even beats Montreal 2015-2016 implosion.

There's no point scratching Kreider. We knew the contract was terrible the day it was signed. The guy will be 34 next spring he's just too old to do what he used to do. Like for Gallagher as a GM/coach you got to accept this and ice the guy and wait for the contract to end.

I give it 24h hours before we hear Kreider complains about it and then getting traded ASAP to where ever (which is what Drury wanted to do since Kreider has a 15 teams no-trade clause).
Don't think anybody will trade for this contract unless NYR pay. Should cost a 1st round pick imo to move that contract.

Kreider + 1st for Josh Anderson and we are talking :sarcasm:

I'm not watching it, but that Rangers vs Devils game seems a bit crazy looking at the amount of penalties. 1st period basically started and ended with a fight.

After 2 periods, 16 penalties . The total PIM is 20 and 24 minutes per teams.

Rangers are losing by 3 goals too.

4-0 and 50 minutes in the Rangers have 10 shots on goal.

This is crazy. I've never seen a team collapse to this extent when some expectations had them penciled into the finals.

It's gotten to the point where I wonder if it's the end of laviolette's career as well.

We got paid to accept Laine tough. There was 0 risk outside of the 2 years left to the contract.

True, but Petterson is playing every game, has ppg start over his young career. The gap between where he is and where he should be is much smaller than with Laine. Bad locker rooms are a real thing, and it can involve good people like with Patches and Subs. Seems like a great opportunity to resolve a major gap on our team with no signs of a replacement other than through draft.

For cup purposes, the Habs are much better served with a barkov type than a pettersson type.

Pettersson-Suzuki sounds great on paper (with the assumption that Pete has his head on straight), but the Habs need size there.

Besides, if I'm paying someone 11+ million, I am making damn sure that player can handle the market, and anyone who has followed Pete's career should have some reservations, at least.

Wasn't Laviolette's career already over before he got that job?

But the problem on that team is that the players are angry at the GM, changing the coach wouldn't fix anything.
